Does anyone know why Netflix show the "A Netflix Original" title card before the episodes I can't seem to find any info in their contribution to making it. I thought it might be because they are the only ones showing in the UK but then I saw you can watch them through xbox.

AMC call it an AMC original too, despite Sony making it, it's just a label I think. It's possible they both helped fund it.
But in fairness, I have to point out that this misuse of the term "original" is common in US TV. Any foreign imports shown in the US are inevitably promoted with the same word. It just means "This is the first time this has been legally shown in this market. It isn't a re-run." |

Certainly for me, by the time the "A NetFlix Original" in all its blocky low resolution glory disappears, I'm left with a nice clean HD feed of what I wanted to watch in the first place. |

How does DS help then get American TV shows at about the same time?
This used to be a place for public opinion not DS corporate influence. And there are other ways of watching it at the same time or about 15 minutes after it has aired, as seen by the many "US pace" threads in the US TV shows forum. It all just stinks of money buying opinion and influence on what use to be an unbiased un-affiliated forum. Seems to be a sell out now. |

Episode two is up on Netflix UK now!
We loved the first episode, though it wasn't quite what we were expecting. It's great seeing Jimmy 'before he was Saul'. Bob Odenkirk is a legend. Now we just need to find time to watch episode two... Dare you say what programmes on Netflix they you hate or are utter rubbish and not worth watching and waste of subscription? |

Better Call Saul Episode 4 'Hero' discussion thread
So the latest Better Call Saul episode is called 'Hero'. Does that mean things will be finally looking up for our crooked lawyer? What could possibly go wrong...? Quote:
Jimmy must face consequences when his relationships become strained.
What did you think of today's episode?

Question
Enjoyed the 4th episode 'Hero' and I have a question about a key plot moment.
You can only answer if you have seen the episode so don't peek until you have seen it although I avoid any big detail.
Spoiler
Thanks |

Are you referring to the girl with the Orange top just before the scene changed? It was the local university's top. He figured that if the big press won't handle his story then the local university paper would.

Thanks, yes you are correct. Watched again and I now see UNM as the letters on the shirt. University of New Mexico. But in my mind that explains getting inspired to paying students $100 to get them to film the interview but now I wonder if the stunt part was always planned from the beginning even if conventional press did the story. In which case his cons are getting quite complex.
Saul's a very clever guy it's just he has a lot going against him by trying to do things legit. As soon as he steps on the crooked path then rules go out the windows and the worlds open to him. |

It's ok, not a patch on Breaking Bad though. That was an amazing series.

As fangirls and boys, we're loving the easter eggs and the way BCS is subtly building a bigger Breaking Bad universe. |

Breaking Bad was a bit of a slow burner, so BCS might surprise you yet. Admittedly, Walt starts off in a far more horrible situation, so it gave BB that terrifying punch from the outset..
Similarly, Jimmy/Saul getting a huge bill for taking the skateboarders to casualty. |

I'm really enjoying it so far, and I'm surprised as I was pretty indifferent to Saul as a character in Breaking Bad.
I'll ask this question in spoilers, just in case, but I think it's fine; nothing major will be given away!

I loved the origin of the name 'Saul Goodman', revealed at the start of the episode:
"What's your name?" -"Saul" "Saul?" -"Yeah, S'all good, man" This rich style of writing for Breaking Bad and for BCS so far makes you wonder if that sort of thing was written years ago, or whether it's an idea they got after making up the name 'Saul Goodman'. I really liked the character of Saul in Breaking Bad and I'm really liking this series so far, but I'm not going to compare it to BB, I'll judge it on its own merits. Breaking Bad is one of those landmark shows like The Sopranos and 24 - the formula is just perfect for their genre. |

It didn't matter who shot the footage (which Jimmy realised when he saw the University top), the resulting drama would automatically spread the word, even in these pre-youtube days in which the show is set. Jimmy is always a step ahead of the game... that's the message at this point in the series. Side note - anyone else notice how the students ended up with an annoyingly badly-composed shot of Jimmy against that billboard!? Such a contrast to the brilliant cinematography I have come to expect from the series. I thought that was such a nuanced, subtle, brilliant touch. To me, Gilligan's verging on the genius here already. And it's early days! |

This episode is my favourite so far. I love how intelligent Jimmy actually is - I never even thought that the billboard guy was in on it!

Absolutely loving the series so far. I would say almost enjoying it more than BB but while being similar it is also so different that I'll avoid comparisons. I have to say the writing is so brilliant that even knowing how sharp Jimmy is his schemes always surprise me and the two this week were just brilliantly executed. Bob Odenkirk is such an underrated talent. I love Mr Show and his comedic abilities were never in question but I'm so pleased to see him pulling off the lead in a drama so well.
