another great episode this week. really enjoyed the resolution to the kettlemans.

Hands down my favourite tv show at the moment.

Doesn't feel as epic as BB but it feels as clever and I just savour every minute.

As a complete artistic philistine I was shocked that just the way they compose some of the shots could be so fantastic. It's a beautiful looking show.

I agree i found this weeks dull, but as you say the series in the whole has been good and we're nearly at the end of season 1 already.

I wonder what it is that's finally going to make Jimmy snap and become Saul. I thought perhaps he was going to successfully defend the Kettlemans in court and then realise people like them were his true calling, but now it doesn't look like that'll happen.

I don't understand people that want to see him be Saul already. I'm hoping we get 4 or 5 seasons of the show and am looking forward to watching Jimmy's slow descent. Loving the show, Bob Odenkirk is just genius.

I agree, if they stretched his transformation over 3 seasons I'd be happy, they don't want to change him to quickly.

I don't understand how Jimmy McGill can be a well know lawyer in Albuquerque, with local news front page and 60ft high billboards, and then 5 years later he is in the same town with a new identity still working as a lawyer?

Can someone explain to me how you can dissapear in your own town and reappear with a new name, still do the same job and no one says, hey wait a minute you look a bit like that Jimmy McGill who dissapeared?

Am I missing something obvious here?

Maybe he does not run and hide and go for big identity change.

Maybe its a simple name change to get into the kind of clients he had in breaking bad, the whiplash, Jerrry Springer watching kind of trailer trash he was making money from.

Maybe he agreed to a change of name as part of a legal settlement ...

After everything, you really want the guy to get a break.

Surely Mrs Kettleman wants her dopey husband in jail for 30 years so she can have the house, kids and money ?

Well she won't be getting any money, that is all handed back in the deal with DA. So she will be left home alone for 18 months with the kids, and a lot less money coming in and a bleaker future.

We will find that out at the end of the story I would guess.

It will be possible to do as you can convince people of anything if you are good enough.

You can convince people of anything really given the right tools. Over 5 years people come and go from town's, Soon enough you have enough "new" people calling you Saul you become Saul. In BB his tv adverts are well known and once people see you on TV as someone you become that person. The mind see's a person and if they seen him on a medium like tv enough no matter what its often the case they see you as that person.

I have only seen part of the first episode so far but if its good, I hope they continue with it and bring it up to date with him as Saul too and post Breaking Bad.

Yes, I hope they go post BB as well. If anyone deserves a happy ending Jimmy McGill does...It's been heart-breaking seeing Jimmy trying to do the right thing.

I loved the last episode , I'm going out on a limb here, but I think Saul is better than BB.

same! it's been really interesting to see this side to saul. I really feel sorry for him and want him to catch a break. I'ts great watching it from the start... even Heisenberg wasn't built in a day! that's what makes these shows fantastic, it's a slow descent so you can see how it happens.it's pretty genius!

I also don't think he is hiding his identity by being saul, I think it's just a way of getting different customers!

Episode 8 was solid enough but I feel it is making time, something big is going to happen that will spin this show into action.

Still really enjoying this. I laughed out loud when Chuck forgot about his electricity "allergy".

And I'm not sure if I spotted an in-joke but when Jimmy was on the phone to Kim he said "Chuck's a rock star", which of course he was because Michael McKean played David St Hubbins in Spinal Tap.

Wasn't it already mentioned in the show that Jimmy can't just trade under a different name (Saul). Maybe I'm mixing things up, but it makes sense with lawyers.

So Saul is going to have to come from something more than just Jimmy changing his trading name to Saul.

Wasn't there a scene in breaking bad in Saul's office when someone was looking at Saul's legal certificates on the wall, and he says something like they are real yes I didn't buy them, I am a lawyer? But the certificates where in the name of Saul Goodman, how can that be?
If it is just a name change, (which would be a dodgy thing to allow lawyers to do anyway) how can he have real certificates in the name of Saul?

I loved episode 8, the legal case he got stuck into was a lot of fun. Mike is getting into something deep, must be to get big money for the daughter in law. Looking forward to more legal case stuff and some courtroom action. Jimmy must have been the oldest mail room boy in America eh, but he still done the studying to pass the bar, that was good.

I wonder if the ironic twist will be that, after trying to live up to his brothers expectations and trying to be a decent lawyer generally, he's going to get stitched up (far worse than he ever did to anyone as a two-bob con artist) over the $20 million.

The lady friend even said about that when Jimmy phoned her. Something to do with Chuck's contract with the law firm - he said it was only re small law cases but you know how that's going to go ....

I didn't watch BB so I don't know about Saul. But I love this show. A note on the name change, etc. I lived in Albuquerque and it's a fairly large city. If he had one billboard for a short time, it would be forgotten quickly as would TV appearances after a year. We're geared to 30 second bites and move on to the next story these days. I also think Jimmy is the cause of all his problems so feel sorry for him? I don't know about that. Very good actor to pull us in like that thought.
