If we're gonna include "Doo-Wop."

Here's a few I've in one of my vinyl jukeboxes.

The Orioles "It's Too Soon To Know." (I'm cheating, this is 1948).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1q7xXXVoCY

The Chimes "Once in a While." (This is 1961, but they were formed in the mid fifties)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-ZGFyBJ1k8

The Skyliners "Since I Don't Have You."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngZh6ZSRoYg

The Duprees "You Belong to Me." (cheating again, 1962).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=817ulh5EmWk

The Platters "The Great Pretender."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s08AOiRmy3w

The Penguins Earth Angel."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecaOppjsOIE

The Mills Brothers. "Till Then."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8iIplONQ-s

Back to pop. Again from one of my jukeboxes.

Bobby Vee "Take Good Care of My Baby." (just outside, 1960, but worth including).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LunT2kP3JL4

Bobby Helms "My Special Angel."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFgQ0cIZiDw

The Fleetwoods "Mr Blue."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgNnEkzWwt8

The Elegants "Little Star." (How you can make a hit from a nursery rhyme, I think the harmonies a great, still one of my favourites).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww181bzE7Fg

Ricky Nelson "Poor Little Fool."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__l4DbiY3Zk

The Teddy Bears "To Know Him is to Love Him." (2 million hits on this one recording)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCnUsInBQws

The Pony Tails "Born Too Late."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxJ2gSCVZIg

Don Gibson "Sea of Heartbreak."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4bo4ByFhLM

There's a comment on one of the YouTube threads above from a poster which reads,

"This era was and is still number 1."

I don't think he was far wrong.

Well it's "fifties" isn't it? We've included, some R&B as well as Doo-Wop.

Have we included Brenda Lee?

"Sweet Nothings."

Tommy Edwards.

I'm including this as it's fifties and a great tune.

Not wishing to close the thread, but if you want a video jukebox of your own for hits of the fifties, or in fact, any era.

Try this.

'The Day The Music Died' - a documentary about the deaths of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper in the plane crash of February 3rd 1959 - I didn't realise just how young they were

Also a good bio of their rise to fame.

What amazed me was the number of recordings Buddy Holly made in his short musical career.

Whilst I was still at school, I and a girlfriend went to a concert at the small theatre at the Royal Festival Hall, I think it was called "The Recital Room" in those days, to see Chris Barber's jazz band.

At the time, Lonnie Donegan was his banjo player.

Here's an interesting interview with an older Little Richard some years ago now. He recounts lots of things including his first meeting with the Beatles and what he thought about their music.
