Trying to trace a song. "Blown Away". Male singer, balad 1993 or before?

Hi there,

I've been trying to trace the singer of the above song.

Blown Away

It's a male singer and the song was recorded during or before the summer of 1993.

I'm in the process of transfereing a collection of decaying tapes to CD and the tape with this song on had only the title written down (my fault I know).

It's not listed in the 14th Edition of Guinness Hit Singles and I've been unable to trace the song through search engines.

If anybody has any idea of who sung it, I would be very gratefull.

Regards,

Guy

I tried searching for it on winmx. it came up with the following bands:
Sick Of It All
Twista
David Garza
Sasha

I have no idea when any of these bands released the song with the above name. But anyway, hope it helped

I suppose this is completely wrong but in a one in a million chance that it helps I'll post it anyway.
Wet Wet Wet had a hit with a ballad called BROKE AWAY around about 1992/93.
Good luck with finding what you are looking for!!

Nope, no scottish tones on the single.

and the title is most certainly "blown away" repeated a fair few times throughout.

Thanks for trying though.

Sick of It All, indeed released a song called "Blown Away" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/cl...432699-4356121 but not it.

Twista is a late 90's early 2000 rap singer, that's strike 2

David Garza, right time period, wrong language. Latin folk singer. Strike 3.

Finally, Sasha, a re-mix DJ. no luck there.

Thanks for trying though.

OK still trying - after consulting my files, found a song called Blown Away by a band called Tripping Daisy from around about the same time period. Just trying to find it in my collection to see what it sounds like as I don't remember the track

Did find a track called Blown Away by Youth Brigade, but it's punk rock, so I doubt it's the one you are looking for.

is it this blown away by the pixies???

now the sun is burning
in deepest space
that's the way things are
through a storm i called you
it fell each day
i didn't get so far
my words get blown away

my lips are moving
if you touch my face
did you hear my screams?
while we were sleeping
i tried to say
even in my dreams
my words get blown away

now the sun is burning
in deepest space
i didn't get so far

Ok, when I said decaying tapes, I really meant decaying tapes.

While playing the tape to try and get the lyrics, the tape not so much snapped as fell apart. Thankfully I used a spare tape player.

All I could get out was this (? marks gaps in sound)

So let it ?
Or let the Sun shine ? on ?

Now that you ?? here

Your are the one
I should have ??
Blown Away
like A boat out on the ocean ?

???

Tape then fell apart.

Again, thanks for trying every one.

Thanks for the link.

Apart from a chuckle at the 9th band listed.

I had no luck with those listed. Tested those listed with the real audio clips from Amazon.com. No matches.

The hunt still goes on.

Taking a different method of attack, I hunted for the lyric.

No success but did stumble across this site

http://www.songfile.com/

And it produced a winner.

The song, Blown Away was recorded by Jeff Lynne and released on the album called "Armchair Theatre"

Time to buy the album.

Thanks to all those helped out.

Ok, now the search goes on for said album.

I have tried HMV, Virgin, Amazon (US and UK), cdnow.com, cd-wow.com, BuyMusic.com, CD Universe and the high street (HMV, Virgin and WH Smiths in Kingston).

Of the above, only amazon.co.uk have any information regarding the album.

"Armchair Theatre
Jeff Lynne
Availability: We are currently unable to offer this title"

Bless.

If anyone stumbles across a copy, I would be gratefull if they could pass the details on.

Thanks again for the info.

I was hoping to go the legit route, but as I've been unable to source a copy of the album then it does look like mp3's will have to do.

Will have a look at audiogalaxy and thanks for that link, have contacted them and will look to see if I have any luck there.

Guy
