Dog rehoming factors
Hi everyone!
I'm doing a dissertation on factors that affect public choice when choosing to adopt a dog from a rehoming centre. I would really appreciate any responses! ![]() It should only take a few minutes to fill out, all you need to do is read some adoption profiles of various dogs and state on a scale how willing you would be to adopt each one Thank you so much for any help! Working in rescue I have to say it's very little to do with language whether a dog is appealing or not, most people we rehome to are far more interested in whether the dogs we have will fit into their existing family of dogs, no point getting a staffy or grey if you have a Chihuahua you will never feel safe IMO.

Done, have to say, I had lots of rescue dogs, and the first thing I look for is appeal, if I fall for them, and I prefer Lurchers, and x breeds.

Done. I've had some rescue dogs. Have a very new one at the moment. It is important IMO that there is plenty of detail available about the dogs which needs to be regularly updated in order to avoid dogs being returnedmif things dontvwork out. People should realise too that however the dog is described it will still be extremely hard work at the beginning.

We have always found at first they not too bad just need to settle but get 6 months in and you start to see the real personality as they relax and decide to try it on a bit. I would say 6months to a year after is always our hardest time. But it is very much down to personalities within the family too I think.

We are cat training a young greyhound as well as settling her in. Its hard work insofar as you need six pairs of eyes to see where they all are all the time. Its getting there though and she's settling well. Hopefully she's happy and its all going to work out fine. Early days yet.
