I read somewhere that Liz Hurley calls us normal folk "civilians" as opposed to her who she obviously thinks is one down from God.

This just shows what they think of us really. I'm not an autograph hunter and wouldn't really hassle anyone famous as they are entitled to their privacy if they're not doing a public event but they have no right to be rude.

Their heads get swollen and they think they'll be famous for ever. However a few years on and nobody remembers who they were and they can't get into clubs free cos the doormen no longer know who they were (or are).

They need to get a reality check, and the ones who will come out the other end unaffected by their fame are the ones who respected their fans when they had their 15 minutes.

Do not like Kemp no more.
Well there you go Kemp. If you'd been nicer when you were on a top show (not now a top show) then you wouldn't now be reduced to doing cruddy sofa adverts in your pullover and cream slip-ons.

Oh Georgiecats, I have literally just PMSL reading this (as has Mr SBGQ) as we were saying something similar when we saw the ad (although not as funny) - I'm still giggling now

And after totally agreeing with your thread in The Games forum about Phil and Kirsty, you must come here more often

I must say, he had a lovely house but he was sat behind this massive desk from which he did not move. Well, some men have big cars as phallic symbols and some men obviously have big desks ...
Just seen him on The Apprentice - he did indeed seem rather obnoxious.

LMAO! I love the way he says he's so "excited" to be telling us all about the cruddy sofas.
I just think, money a bit tight is it Mart?

Let me think who've I met?

Met Roy "Chubby" Brown when I was a waitress, he was actaully lovely! really polite and quiet!

Andy Crane, I'm a Postwoman and I delivered a parcel to his house, he answered the door half asleep, but was still very pleasant!

I've seen Hayley from Corrie about (she lives near me too) and she's always nice.

I once saw Georgia Taylor (Toyah Battersby) in TopShop in Manchester - she's up her own a**e a bit

OH! I know who I've met!
Bruce Jones AKA Les Battersby, he used to be a regular in the pub my ex went in. what a big-headed ******* he is!
It's a case of I'll walk into the pub and make a huge fuss so everyone sees me, he bought up half a board of 200 christmas raffle numbers once too, urgh!

And yet Keith Clifford (played Les' mate Charlie West and also Billy Hardcastle in Last of the summer Wine)used to come in the same pub, he'd come in with his dog, have a quiet pint and go, he pretty much kept himself to himself, but he was nice though.

Saw Sid from Emmerdale at xmas, didn't actually meet him but he was in a club with a blonde lady friend, and he stood and a higher level right near the dancefloor so everyone could see him, he didn't dance just stood there and then left!

Nick Knowles - both my sister and my boyfriend have met him on seperate occasions several months apart, whilst he was filming for DIY SOS. Apparently, on both occasions he surrounded himself with fawning young women, even leaving with one rather young specimen when my sister met him. But he refused to talk to anyone he didn't fancy, or who wanted to ask about his TV work. He was stand-offish and miserable, by all accounts.

But the little electrician man (Billy?) was apparently lovely

Celeb encouters worth recounting....

Anneka Rice - the episode of Challenge Anneka where they painted Happisburgh lighthouse. The final scenes were supposed to show the happy villagers running up the lane towards the lighthouse. As my ten year old self was running up said lane, I heard "ExCUSE me. EXCUSE me!!" from a woman behind me. To the right of me were several hundred excited running people, to the left, a long drop into a ditch. So I just kept running in a straight line, shouting over my shoulder "I've got nowhere to go!" (Honestly, who writes my lines?)

Within two seconds, there was an elbow in my ribs, which sent me hurtling into the ditch. As I fell, I took out a cameraman, who went flying, soaring over my head - he'd obviously been on Anneka bum-tracking shot.

Oddly enough on the show that aired, it was only an aerial shot from a helicopter...

Also - Stuart Lee (Lee & Herring/This Morning with Richard not Judy) - cocky git. Richard Herring (Lee & Herring/This Morning with Richard not Judy) - adorable and charming. Richard Thomas (keyboard player in This Morning with Richard not Judy, co-writer of Jerry Springer The Opera) - lovely, kind bloke, want to put him in my pocket and take him home.

Steve Coogan - smartarse.
Simon Pegg - sweeter than something very sweet. Like the smell after rain on a hot summers day.

My third cousin (tenuous, but stay with me) once interviewed The Beatles. He said John was "a smartypants know-it-all), Paul had a chip on his shoulder, Ringo was hilarious, and George was "a gentle soul".

Was in a garage in Rochdale years ago and Bill Tarmey (Jack Duckworth) was outside with some other bloke kicking tyres on a Lexus. My little kid saw him and ran outside to pester him. Bill took it really well and the kid was over the moon when came back in. Came as no surprise to me, he's always struck me as being a down to earth bloke.

Bill Maynard

I thought i'd put a good word in for one celeb.
A few years ago, i met Bill Maynard ( Greengrass in Heartbeat )
I was visiting my mother in hospital, where he was visiting his mother in the same ward.
He asked me and my mother how we were.
I later found out from my mother, that in the daytime he came to the hospital and chatted with all the patients in my mothers ward and gave the nurses fresh flowers every day
Very nice man.

Blue, especially Lee & Simon!

Have seen them about when meeting other celebs a few times, & they always just totally ignored the fans waiting for them, not as much as a wave, let alone an autograph or a photo! When I went to the Brits this year they were the ONLY celebs not to come over & meet the people waiting outside! Scissor Sisters were lovely, Robbie was lovely, Snoop Dogg didnt say much but was still lovely!

A mate & I got our own back on Blue though, we were at a recent Top Of The Tops they were on & we asked to go to the loo. We were sent down this side corridoor & coming the opposite way were Blue. Simon was 1st & he gave us this big cheesy grin as he approached, to which we did what they normally do, just totally ignored him & kept walking!!! He looked kinda confused as to why we didnt stop & start talking to him!!! Afterwards we thought it would have been even better if we had asked him for directions to the toilet!!! U2 were on that same TOTP & were lovely!!!

When I worked in a big store in London:

Bruce Forsyth - very look at me and offhand and patronising
Nanette Newman - demanding and dismissive
Fiona Fulleron -100% wonderful
Susan George and her husband- fine
Gail frm Corrie - great
Bob Geldof - fine

I suppose we can all have our off days

I have to say one of the lovliest celebs I have met was Dermot O'Leary, nothing to do with him being a sex god at all....

I've just remembered one. A girl that I used to go out drinking with worked in a coffee shop/bakery type place in Chester and, one day, Jimmy Nail was in there. Obviously the people who worked there were quite excited about this and looked over a few times. However, when he paid for his order, he snapped at the girls there about staring at him and then stropped out

Ain't no doubt he's one narky sod

I went to The Derby Day races a few years ago. As well as The Queenie and Queenie Ma, there were a fair few celebs milling around the paddocks that day.

Quite a few Eastenders actors were there and I do remember Dean Gaffney and Beppe (can't even remember the actors name ) looking quite smug and very pleased at all the attention they were receiving from the young ladies.

Also that day, met John McCrerick (? - the one from Celeb BB). He was surprisingly pleasant and happy to pose for a photo.

And, brace yourselves, Jade 'Gobby' Goody once came into the private hospital where my mum works. My mum knew it was her because of her 'loud' voice. But to be fair, she also said Jade was very friendly and chatty to all the staff. Mind you, this wasn't long after Jade had come out of the BB house, so the ego hadn't had time to kick in yet ....

Timmy Mallet I was at a student event and he was there, I wanted his autograph for me and a friend who couldn't queue up because she'd broken her leg. He would only sign one of the post card thingies because he said it was one per person. So needless to say I thought he was such an arsehole that my friend had the autographed copy and I wouldn't ever goto anything he went to ever again.
He was very arrogant and seemed to think he was a big star, you wish timmy.

Keith Harris - gave me an Orville poster when I was 5, he was lovely.
(don't you love my version of celebrities)

The woman who plays Nora Batty - i was with my school watching a play when we saw her sitting in the audience, the rest of the play was spent watching her instead of the play.
We went up to her in the interval and she chatted to us and signed autographs for those who wanted it, she was totally lovely especially because we probably ruined the play for her.

Jennifer Capriati we saw her walking along the street when we were at Wimbledon one year. My friends ran and spoke to her and she was very nice and chatted even though she was late for a practice session.

Ahh I love this thread. And now I can add to it. I was out last night, quite drunk, as you do, and followed some woman into the toilets. I was a bit confused so I said 'I'm glad you were going there coz I would have got lost otherwise!' And she smiled at me in the way you do when some crazy drunk chick who you dont know is talking to you. Then we were in the queue and someone went 'You know you really look like that Val from emmerdale' - and shes like 'yeah I am love (insert accent here)' And then we were talking and I got a picture with her (such a geek lol!), and then she told me she was in Birmingham coz she was going to Cardiff the day after to watch football. And shed met a load of guys on a stag night and bet them that she could get viagra before they could. So she was asking anyone if they knew where she could get some. Then I took her to meet my mom, who was with me, and she couldnt believe how young my mom looked. Awwww, but she was lovely. I met a celeb! Woo! Heh all I could think about was this thread when I was talking to her!

I remember reading something he wrote in a tabloid a few years ago about Glynis Barber. I just found it really bitter and nasty towards her. Then I found out that he's had it in for her ever since she refused to strip off in one of his films years ago. So not just an aignorant creep, but an ignorant creep that bears a grudge!

Also, he looks like a neighbour I can't stand, and those Esure ads were so irritating.

I used to be in a girl guides troup that met in a Catholic church hall in the early 1980's. That evening after we had finished, there was going to be a charity night and the celeb was the guy who pretends to ride the Ostrich. I'm sorry I cannot for the life of me remember his name. Anyway, he turned up before our meeting finished, so he came in and chatted to us all. He was so nice and took the time to chat to all the guides, telling jokes and pretending the ostrich had got a bad leg and thats why he wasn't there too. He was still on tv a lot at that time.
Also saw Philip Schofield in 1987 doing a personal appearance. He came across as very arrogant. In fact later on he went to a nightclub where a friend of my brothers worked and he said how very shy he was. Maybe he just didn't like being in a place full of kids. Funny really considering he was on CBBC at the time
