Moving to BT Infinty and TV - Advice
Hello,
Currently with sky (for 6 years) however due to increasing bills and not watching much live TV i have (i think) decided to join BT. I can currently get the infinity 2 package so i am happy with that its just the TV side - yeah i know the content is limited however these are the channels that i do actually watch so its perfect and BT sport is a great extra. However ive heard some negative reviews regarding the you view boxes from reliability and performance. Any information would be great on any part of the services. |

The current Youview+ box, the G4, is excellent, and has had a lot of positive reviews and feedback. It's nippy, easy to navigate, and the picture quality for the multicast channels especially is exceptional, even for SD.
Speaking of the TV, I am very happy with the Entertainment package. It contains a few of the channels that I would want anyway if I could cherry pick (GOLD, Comedy Central) and others that throw up a decent documentary quite regularly like CI and Nat Geo. I recently upgraded to the HD pack, which gives you many of these channels (plus BT Sport) in high def for only £3 a month more. BT's HD is simply stunning. Plus you can access Netflix via BT Youview now, either with your existing account, or sign up for it through BT so you get everything in the one bill. You'll have had to be living under a rock not to have heard by now about what Netflix has to offer! ![]() Not many downsides to BT TV as far as I'm concerned. I'd like a few more channels in the Entertainment pack, but restrictions put in place by BT's competitors make this unlikely (though not impossible) for the foreseeable future. I'd also like to see some more on-demand/catch up apps on the YV box, as the YV platform is perfectly designed for such services. But I've a feeling BT and YV will eventually offer a wider range of these types of service, it's just a case of being patient

![]() I got mine a few weeks ago, latest box, and it was a nightmare, displaying all the pause, catch-up and recording problems that have been discussed for months. Luckily for BT, a few nights after I connected it and was about to cancel my order under the distance selling regulations and as not fit for purpose, it auto-updated with the new February 2014 software and all problems seem to be fixed. It was a close call - for BT! I hope BT and Youview, have learned the lesson from this disastrous and unacceptable episode because if something as bad as this happens again, I suspect that I and many others will ditch it. Once bitten and all that... Incidentally, when I signed up last month, BT were throwing in the Entertainment pack 'free' for 12 months, O/P make sure you get that if it's still on offer. |
