Spooky how we suggested he could choose his form at the same time.

Nope - its more likely to stop people from watching.

Why watch and get involved with a doctor / show who doesn't care about the show anyway?

Very big of him ....

Because Mark Benton says 'Sorry, new customers only' in the Nationwide ads.

I think the only thing that could "save" all this now for me (other than having CE stay on for at least another series) would be to have him appear in the Christmas special and have the regeneration half way through, so we get a fair bit of CE again and a chance to get to know the new Doctor.

If it hasn't already been posted yet, this article offers some suggestions for the new Who.

LOL - I thought there was some divine reason for a moment

I seriously think Tennant would be great though. As I said before, he has the energy, enthusiasm and sex appeal to make a great Doctor. And he's a huge fan of the show, so I'm sure he would stay for a good long time, not swan off after only one series.

And if anyone suggests Alan Davies (yet again) I will really begin to question their sanity.

Regeneration at the end so there is anticipation of the new series.

I know modern day thinking is having everything imediate but just to do the regeneration effect new Dr sits up and then BANG end titles.

In fact I'm quite intrested in the effects they could use to perform the regeneartion, could be a spectacular piece of TV. I really don't have a problem with CE leaving, if the stories are strong the lead actor shouldn't make a difference and it does introduce the concept of the Dr changging very early on in wht I hope is a long run of series.

I think he'll probably only be back for the regeneration sequence, but who knows?
Personally, I'd like him to be mortally injured at the end of this series, and get dragged off into the Tardis by Billie, then leave it as a cliffhanger.

Start the Christmas special with the regeneration then have a story as well, give us a glimpse of the new Doctor's character. Make it 90 minutes long.

Ok, so we now have the 3 extemes of what might happen ina Christmas special. The regenratrion at the start, the regenration in the middle and the regenration at the end....I really wonder what will happen. Looks like whatever does happen, some of us will be disapointed

Final proof

Actually I'm surprised you haven't mentioned Jeff Brazier as the new Doctor!

I think the one thing you can be sure of, is that regardless if it is the start, middle or end of the episode, it WILL happen on the Christmas day special.
Wonderful for ratings.

But I think, since it's already been spoilt that
Spoiler
the daleks get the better of him at the end of this current series
dragging him off into the Tardis will be the cliffhanger, and we won't see the new Doctor until Christmas day (whether it's at the start, the middle or the end).
As someone just said, him just sitting up after regenerating then cue end credits would be great!

Alan Davies is second in the BBC poll so its looking quite likely...i cant see richard e grant doing it...david tennant is right at the bottom...only david thewlis has fewer votes...

I also believe Paul Mcgann might be ok as the doctor, I think he has become a better actor since he last played the doctor.

I wouldn't give the part to David Tennant because he is a young ambitious actor and it seems he has got a future ahead of him - we could have another situation were he may leave and to further his career, to be honest I wouldn't blame him.

Another consideration would be to give the part to a well seasond actor, who has done it all - perhaps may just want to work in the UK and is a big name not just here but in the States and elsewhere. If BBC are willing to throw money on good quality acting why not give it to Bob Hoshkins or someone else with quality behind them. In the States they have hired moviestars for some of their series, why don't we do it here. I think he might make it more gritty.

Thats if the BBC are willing to make this in to a well crafted series.”

Then Anthony Head may be the wise choice.

Anthony Head will open up the American market as he has so many American fans from "Buffy" already.

My vote goes to David Tennant. If not him then perhaps Tony Head. As long as they don't go for a comedian, that would be a bad move imo.
Btw, Outpost Gallifrey is back up.

My money is on him - although I'm hedging my bets by saying I wouldn't be surprised if they regenerated him into Mark Benton.

Looks like David Tennant will be the next Doctor unless he turns it down.

They need to get an actor to sign up for three years minimum to make the series worth bringing back.
How hard can that be...?”

Good money perhaps?

Maybe when actors are given very lucrative money deals they don't worry so much about typecasting or whatnot.
