If the Doctor and Rose transported themselves in time to the end of the universe, they could recreate the cosmos by making a new 'big bang' together.

Please God no. Like I said before, we the role should not go to a comedian.

And besides, AE can't act.

I'd go for Alan Rickman, he's always been highly underated IMHO

I think Christopher Ecclestone's Doctor should turn out to be a renegade, a time lord who went a bit bonkers, and influenced by stories of the good Doctor, made off with the Tardis, and came to believe he WAS the Doctor, destined to save the universe from peril, until Paul Magann turns up in the Christmas episode and puts him to rights as to who's the REAL Doctor. Ecclestone does seem to be bit manic and barking in the role.

Paul Magann would be dedicated to the series, and i always thought he should have the chance to continue in the role. (Sorry i've probably spelt his name wrong)

Sexual tension between the new Doctor, say Paul Magann and his assistant, David Tennant would indeed make for INTERESTING viewing

Let's be brave and have the first female Doctor. Caroline Quentin anybody? If tradition (and not innovation) is to reign supreme, I think Craig Charles would be excellent as the Doctor.

I'm not a big Dr Who fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I really enjoyed the first episode, and was looking forward to the rest of the series. I can't believe how annoyed I am that CE has decided to do a runner! I'll watch the rest of the series, but I won't enjoy it, because I'll always be thinking of rude words whenever CE is on screen.

Someone mentioned Sean Pertwee - can I second that? No, not because of his dad, but I think he'd bring a more physical nature to the role.

I'd like to see Caroline Quentin in the role, as long as Gary can be her annoying and troublesome assistant, persistently landing the Tardis nearest the local planetary pub.

TOTAL DEPARTURE FROM 'USUAL' ROLE:

How about................ Adam Hart Davis as Doctor Who? that'd be quite something.....

IF they used a female Doctor, then I reckon Mary Quant would be perfect

IF they has a female doctor (which i really doubt).. then i think they should have a male assistant...

By the way... what sort of accent does this Tennant character have? I want a posh voice again!

Looking at this Tennant fellow on the BBC Blackpool website. He looks quite handsome, but skinny and even foppish... Maybe that will work in his favour. He'll have to think his way out trouble.

while I have no problem with a woman playing dr who I think at this stage in its life the producers are best playing safe and sticking to a (white) man. After a couple of series I see no problem.

My vote still goes for Anthony Head.

He's a classically trained actor, and is naturally posh. Watch Casanova if you haven't already seen it - he's outstanding. Such energy and sex appeal.

idea for Dr Who
Give the role to George Cole and make Dennis Waterman his assistant......make the tardis crash land in West london, disguise the iside of the tardis like a private drinking club and call it the Winchester Club and the doctor has to earn a living selling stolen goods and second hand cars.......when the inevitable problems start let the doctors assistant sort it out......if hes not to busy chatting up the women....

APRIL FOOL !!!!!!!!1

Maybe they should just change the show's name to Minder!
