Vodafone 4g upgrade
I had a call on Thursday from Vodafone offering to change my 2 numbers from 3g to 4g contracts for an extra £1.25 a week each. The main pluses for this would be the data would double to 1gb and the agent said the numbers could also be upgraded 3 months early. I said that it would take something a bit more than that to swap as we have a rubbish 3g signal and would be doubtful a 4g would be any better. He then said he could add sky sports on one of the numbers for 6 months and increase mins and texts to unlimited and the data would be 4gb for the same price. Because I am a bit sceptical of verbal offers I asked him to email me the offer and call me back on Monday and I would let him know if I wanted to go ahead. The agent said no problem and to look out in the next half an hour for the email. The email never arrived. Anyone else had a call like this

Cold caller trying to get you to sign a new contract? If there's no phone and you were being asked to sign up for 12-24 months then it probably isn't a great deal.
Paying more for 4G is cheeky, but it sounds like it was actually bumping you up a tariff if you get more data too. But you could call Vodafone up and ask to add 4G without a new contract. Maybe it WAS an official call from Vodafone or an approved representative and a sneaky way to try and lock you in to Vodafone for another year, when you may well find that in 3 months you want to shop around. If you've got poor 3G data and maybe no 4G at all, why not look and see what EE can offer you? Obviously you could still decide to stick with Vodafone if you so wished. |

NEVER EVER sign up to something when SOMEONE CALLS YOU.
Unless you are 100% sure who is calling, never ever do this. The chances are you'll be able to get the exact same deal by going into a Vodafone store or ringing up Vodafone direct. |
