Pancake day
It's pancake day on Tuesday.
What is your fav filling? Do you prefer scotch pancakes or the classic crepe style? I like caramelized banana and chocolate spread. recipe found here: http://www.recipebrag.com/recipe/car...read-pancakes/ of course i wouldn't turn my nose up at lemon and sugar though hehe. |

I prefer Scotch, but maybe because I'm rubbish at making the thin crepey ones...

We like savoury pancakes so I was going to try a 3 cheese, pecan and honey recipe this year but love classic lemon and sugar for sweet ones.

Last year I did two pancakes, one with sliced bananas, chocolate buttons and toffee sauce, the second was raspberry ripple ice cream and crushed white chocolate. Very very yummy!

Will be having pancakes tomorrow as my boyfriend is working Tuesday. I love loads of sugar and lemon, boring and predictable but can't beat the tradition!

I'm a traditionalist so it's the classic crepe with sugar and lemon all the way.

Never made Scotch style (I assume they're AKA American style). I like mine splashed with Worcestershire sauce and pepper, or sometimes filled with a ratatouille-type concoction. For sweet, usually just lemon and sugar/honey.

How come no one moans that pancake day has become too commercialised and is no longer treated as a religious event, like they do about Christmas?

Doing Slimming world but really want some pancakes this year so saving my days "syns" for them. I did a free one last year which was really just a thin omelette with sweetener in it as there was no flour in them. They were ok, but not pancakes. |

Presumably because in my case and most peoples it costs about £5 or so to celebrate Pancake Day, whereas Xmas can cost thousands.

Quite. The only thing I have had to buy for pancake day is lemon juice. And that's only because I have just ran out from using it in other cooking.

Maple syrup for me. Can't beat the stuff. It has to be proper maple syrup though, none of this maple flavour malarky.

Has anyone got a fail proof recipe.. preferably on YouTube?
Every year I try and every year I fail. My pancakes usually look like rubber and just don't seem to have anywhere near the consistency that I remember. They don't taste as nice I remember either. I must be doing something wrong but I can't see what. |
