Every single year, the finale has always been extremely close:
In 2012, David won Charity by just 10 points (I'm still fuming over this result - I will NEVER get over it).
In 2013, Nicola won Cain by just two points.
In 2014, Nicola won Cain again by just nine points.
So, why would 2015 be any different? It really, really isn't! We can obviously count on an Emmerdale finale being dramatic!

I will countdown from 73rd place, with the characters ranking history and a brief summary of the characters.

The very first heat of 2015 suffered badly due to being hidden in the games room, but somehow the votes picked up and we got a similar turnout to last year! It wasn't ideal, but we beat the odds - a big you-know-what to the mods!

Ranking History (X-X-62-73)

Archie hits rock bottom after debuting outside the bottom five last year. However, we were all duped, as we were never really ranking the real Archie, making a complete farce of the entire competition Real Archie could've won the whole thing.

72 [NE] Tracy Shankley - 3.13% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-X-72)

Newcomer Tracy hasn't gone down well with us. Should she have left for good after her exit or are we going to see DS warm to her in the coming months? Newbies are often treated as intruders at first, but we often warm to them as we start to see more of who they are and why they are who they are, so I suspect we'll be seeing Tracy shoot up the rankings next year.

71 [NE] Amba Sharma - 3.45% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-X-71)

Amba makes a poor debut, but since she's not even a year old yet, it's understandable!

Hurray for results!

70 [59] Jack Sugden - 3.81% Round 1

Jack takes a fall down the rankings. We didn't see much of Jack last year, and I suspect nothing is going to change for about 14 more years.

69 [69] Heath Hope - 3.92% Round 1
Ranking History (X-60-69-69)

Heath climbs the rankings - last year he was second from bottom, this year he's fourth from bottom! Since Emmerdale ignored me last year, I will try again. Emmerdale, it's time to start putting Heath on our screens! He is EIGHT years old now, and yet you still can't give him a scene or two every now and then with Bob? Brenda? Godparent Paddy? Godparent Marlon? Every other kid gets screen time, so why is Heath ignored? Hopefully, with Carly's return, Heath will finally be in a scene or two.

68 [68] Cathy Hope - 3.93% Round 1
Ranking History (X-58-68-68)

Every year Cathy has ranked higher than her twin brother, yet she's ignored just as much as Heath is. I don't know why this irritates me so much, as I'm definitely not a fan of child characters, but it's annoying to see them get zero screen time whilst every other kid gets a fair amount. It's just unrealistic not to see them walking around the village or sitting in the cafe with Bob and/or Brenda. Kids go "missing in action" all the time, but these twins have taken it to a whole new level.

67 [32] Jai Sharma - 4.51% Round 1
Ranking History (25-27-32-67)

Jai's fallen down the rankings steadily every year, up until now! A very dramatic drop for Jai but a delightful one for me. This is what happens when characters (a) screw with Charity and (b) stop sharing scenes with Charity. You become less appealing to the viewers. Seriously though, Jai was quite a rounded character until recently; now he's just pure scum.

66 [64] Leo Goskirk - 5.10% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-64-66)

Leo takes a small dip in the rankings. I really dislike Leo for the sole reason that his father is Marlon.

65 [67] Ali Spencer - 5.16% Round 1
Ranking History (59-51-67-65)

Ali takes a small climb this year but considering the character has been there for four years now, she's no nearer to being liked by the viewers. Personally, I don't understand the hatred for the character, but that's not to say I like her. She's so bland - I'm indifferent to her and I find it weird that people feel so strongly about her. I just can't muster up that kind of reaction for such a dull character.

64 [50] Samson Dingle - 5.24% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-50-64)

Samson takes a big fall down the rankings. I think the actor is very natural on screen despite his age. In fact, I think Emmerdale have by far the best cast where the kids are concerned. All are cracking!

63 [63] Gabby Thomas - 5.39% Round 1
Ranking History (55-53-63-63)

Gabby stands still in the rankings which is hugely disappointing. The character has been coming into her own this year and I LOVE IT. Ruining Katie's face, scaring April and just generally being a madam! The actress has actually played Gabby since birth (according to Wikipedia). For the first year of Gabby's life, another baby shared the role with her, but apart from that, the current actress has played her since birth. I found that little fact fascinating!

62 [46] Amelia Spencer - 5.62% Round 1
Ranking History (60-57-46-62)

Amelia takes her first fall down the rankings and it's a pretty big one. We haven't seen much of Amelia in the latter half of this year which might be the reason why.

61 [53] Arthur Thomas - 5.78% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-53-61)

Arthur had his own little sideline storyline this year with him feeling pushed out by the vile Marlon in favour of April, but DS don't seem to have much sympathy for him as he takes a dip in the rankings like most of the kids this year.

60 [NE] Doug Potts - 5.99% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-X-60)

Doug tumbles into the competition in 60th place, but quite frankly, it's way too high for my liking. I thought Doug coming back would help revive Laurel but for goodness sake, he's just so BORING. Also, is it just me or does anyone else find themselves getting really irritated when he's on screen? He doesn't have to say or do anything, he just has to be there, and I get incredibly irritated

59 [41] Noah Dingle - 6.02% Round 1
Ranking History (44-54-41-59)

Noah receives his worst ranking to date, but considering how the majority of other kids have performed, it could've been worse. It's funny that he's received his worst ranking to date because up until a few months ago, I didn't like him, but now I've warmed to him, it seems DS aren't so keen! Typical

58 [42] Jacob Gallagher - 6.28% Round 1
Ranking History (49-50-42-58)

Another child, another drop. In fact, like Noah, it's Jacob's worst ranking to date. Jacob was pressured (some may even say bullied) by Noah into doing a few things he didn't want to this year - such as stealing from the shop. He's also Noah's partner in crime as they sprayed graffiti on the Dingle's home to taunt Belle. Must admit, that did seem out of character for Jacob and seemed like a plot device to try and trick the viewers.

57 [52] Angelica King - 6.58% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-52-57)

Another child out of the competition, and, you guessed it, another drop. Angelica does get the bronze medal though, as she's only beaten by April and Sarah as far as the kids are concerned. I'm not quite sure what she's done to achieve ranking higher than the other kids, as she is one of the quieter ones, but maybe being the daughter of the popular couple, Jimmy and Nicola, helped her out?

56 [58] James Barton 7.24% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-58-56)

James climbs two places to 56. James is a character that I'm completely indifferent towards. He hasn't done much since being in the show, although he was much more interesting when he first appeared. I think producers changed direction with him, as he's appeared very laid back recently when he was nothing like that last year. I think they swapped his and Emma's roles around, as it was heavily hinted there was more to his and Ross' relationship than Ross just being a pain and a few on here speculated about their being darker undertones when his relationship with Emma was referenced to, but it seems Ross was just a pain after all and Emma's to blame for the walkout. Shame, as I think James would've worked well with a more sinister tone. Also, the current storyline just doesn't work for me - the timeline is all over the place which is why I suspect it was changed last minute with James and Emma playing the reversed roles they were meant to, for whatever reason.

55 [39] Sam Dingle - 7.31% Round 1
Ranking History (33-14-39-55)

The gormless dope is up next. As you can see, he's very inconsistent with his ranking on here. I have no time for Sam, I really don't. He irritates me and he bores me. Never have I been entertained when he's on screen. Decent actor but the character is just awful. Glad to see him rank so low.

54 [54] Marlon Dingle - 7.34% Round 1
Ranking History (39-46-54-54)

Marlon (even typing his name disgusts me) sticks at 54 this year. I can barely right this description without my blood pressure hitting the roof. I cannot stand Marlon. How the hell he's lasted so long I will never know. He is definitely one of my most hated characters ever to appear on a soap, but I doubt he could even win that; such a loser. Hopefully, the next producer will have some common sense and axe this absolute eejit. Next year, DS, I want to him rock bottom of this competition; 54 is way too high

53 [30] Rishi Sharma - 7.44% Round 1
Ranking History (57-30-30-53)

Rishi takes a massive fall down the rankings this year. Another character that I feel absolutely nothing towards at all. What does he do? Why is he here? I know we need background characters but he just seems so pointless.

52 [51] Sarah Sugden - 7.66% Round 1
Ranking History (52-56-51-52)

Sarah drops one place but her ranking has been very consistent throughout the four years of this competition. I really like Sarah and enjoy her scenes. Hope the actress sticks around for many years to come

51 [25] Megan Macey - 7.95% Round 1
Ranking History (X-39-25-51)

Megan drops 26 places and I can't say I'm surprised! The writing for her is a bit all over the place. Doesn't seem to care that Robbie died, was a complete pushover with Jai and let him get away with the affair... Yet, it's sort of believable for her character. I know she portrays a 'strong, independent woman', but she did allow Declan to abuse her, so whilst the writing for her is dodgy, it also kind of worked for her. Whether or not it's been intentional, DS clearly haven't enjoyed her character over the past year.

50 [NE] Kirin Kotecha - 8.21% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-X-50)

Newcomer Kirin does relatively well for his first year. I'm surprised at how high he is. He's not believable as a 17 year old, in my opinion, and the actor trying to cry is absolutely hilarious. I can only guess that his appearance got him this high. Shame on you, DS!

49 [49] Lisa Dingle - 8.58% Round 1
Ranking History (15-16-49-49)

Lisa sticks at 49. Lisa's had a lot of stick off DS lately. I'm not sure why, she hasn't changed much (if at all) as far as I can tell, so I'm baffled at her lack of support. Sometimes I like Lisa, then other times she gets right on my nerves, but I've always felt that way about her. I guess the fact she had the rape storyline helped her populairty in 2012 and 2013 and with the exception of that storyline, she's always been unpopular? I don't know - enlighten me, please, as it's the ol' "chicken or the egg" question, for me.

48 [40] Adam Barton - 8.59% Round 1
Ranking History (45-42-40-48)

Adam was steadily climbing the rankings each year... until now! He falls eight places and receives his worst ranking to date. Overall though, Adam's been very consistent in the competition. Adam was sent to jail this year for, er, sod it, let's move on - no one cares what this nonentity has been up to.

47 [35] Georgia Sharma - 8.78% Round 1
Ranking History (50-28-35-47)

Georgia fails to make round two after two decent placings in the competition and falls 12 places. Still, it's a relatively decent placing for a character who's not even permanent. I've been enjoying Georgia over the last year (the little bits we see of her anyway) so of course she fell down the rankings

46 [61] Pete Barton - 8.83% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-61-46)

Pete manages an impressive climb up the rankings after a disappointing debut. Last year, Pete was ranked bottom of the Barton boys, now he's outranked his dad, James, and also his step brother, Adam. So far, only himself and Ali have climbed the rankings - everyone else has fallen.

45 [33] Ruby Haswell - 8.93% Round 1
Ranking History (58-29-33-45)

Ruby slips 12 places. A disappointing result for Ruby this year after two fairly decent years in the competition. Ruby's lowest moment happened for me this year, and that was her being weak and taking Ali back after she found out about the one night stand. I was rooting for her to be strong and kick Ali to the kerb, but all we got was her breaking down and saying how much Ali meant to her. Ever since, I've felt a wee bit sorry for her, but also a bit repulsed by her. How can anyone allow a partner to define them? Ruby seems to cling to Ali because she's got no one / nothing else. Pathetic, but deep down I do like her and that's why I can't help feeling a tiny bit sorry for her.

44 [NE] Rakesh Kotecha - 9.20% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-X-44)

Rakesh's debut is neither here nor there. It's a 'middle of the road' ranking, which doesn't seem to fit his character. I was surprised to see him rank so low, as I thought the general opinion on DS was rather good for him. Compared to most newbies throughout the four years of the competition, it's actually a good debut. I think he's got bags of potential, and a character who can show us many sides to his personality. Sometimes we see a sweet, kind, gentle man, but there's a ruthless and threatening side to him, too. I just hope Emmerdale don't go too far one way or the other and keep him dimensional.

43 [15] Dan Spencer - 9.51% Round 1
Ranking History (X-36-15-43)

Dan takes a massive, massive fall down the rankings. From the top 15 to out of the top 40! Although, if it was up to me, he'd be much, much lower, but we're getting there, DS Pathetic character, I absolutely loathe him.

42 [NE] Lachlan White - 9.54% Round 1
Ranking History (X-X-X-42)

Lachlan debuts at 42, and his support really surprised me. He nearly made it into round two which is baffling. I'm fascinated by his storyline, but him as a character? Quite annoying. Also, Chrissie mentioned he was 14 the other week when he got his tattoo. 14?! I thought he was Belle's age - 16. I know it's not much of an age gap, but there's big differences between a 14 and a 16 year old and I feel he's closer to 16 than 14. Small things like this really put me off characters. If I can't buy into the characters, then it spoils everything, obviously, and now it's been brought to my attention, I can't get past it. 14?! What is it with soaps and stupid ages?

41 [38] Betty Eagleton - 9.59% Round 1
Ranking History (20-33-38-41)

Betty continues to drop down the rankings. Her lack of screen time is purely to blame for her ranking, in my opinion. I hope Betty's back on our screens soon as she's been gone for at least six months, I believe.

40 [28] Sandy Thomas - 9.80% Round 1
Ranking History (29-31-28-40)

Sandy drops 12 places and receives his worst ranking to date. Sandy does nothing for me, I'm afraid; he's just there. I dislike this 'term' but it suits him down to a tee: meh.

39 [31] Bob Hope - 9.97% Round 1
Ranking History (24-15-31-39)

Bob's another one to receive his worst ranking to date! With Carly coming back, we should start seeing more of Bob rather than just his normal, bog standard scenes of serving people in cafe. Hopefully, he'll get some decent stuff to get his teeth into.

37 [16] Rhona Goskirk - 10.24% Round 1
Ranking History (36-47-16-37)

After doing really well last year, Rhona takes a heavy fall but she only just missed out on a place in round two! Two points separated herself and Paddy in their heat, and I suspect her missing out was based on her lack of screen time recently, whereas Paddy has had a bit more to do.

37 [29] Belle Dingle - 10.24% Round 1
Ranking History (28-41-29-37)

Belle drops down the rankings, and like Rhona, just misses out on a place in round two! I think this is a very disappointing result considering the year Belle's had. I suppose characters that have a big year are bound to pick up more detractors, though. Fantastic actress and I'm glad to see her mental health storyline running for a relatively lengthy (realistic) time.



Round 1 done and dusted and only two characters (Pete and Ali) managed to climb up the rankings out of 39 characters

36 [54] Laurel Dingle - 4.07% Round 2
Ranking History (19-48-54-36)

Finally, a character who actually climbs the rankings! Laurel's been at the forefront of the show now for a number of years but her storylines since splitting up with Ashley have been really poor. I don't dislike her, but pairing her up with Marlon is a massive mistake and the storylines and writing for her is annoying. The character might be getting back on track now though, if this ranking is anything to go by. Fingers crossed - just get her away from Marlon and she'll improve tenfold!

35 [45] Brenda Walker - 6.10% Round 2
Ranking History (46-38-45-35)

Brenda also climbs the rankings and it's the first time she's ever been in round two! Brenda, much like Bob, seems a bit of a spare part now Gennie's gone. She spends all her time in the cafe, making a ditzy comment to anyone who buys a coffee. Don't get me wrong, I really like Brenda, but I just wish Emmerdale would do more with her.

34 [25] Rodney Blackstock - 6.25% Round 2
Ranking History (35-22-25-34)

Well, that didn't last long, did it? Rodney falls nine places down the rankings. Despite becoming more relevant in recent years with his relationship with Georgia and Bernice returning, Rodney's another character that tends to lurk in the background not doing much at all year round. Shame.

Really there should be a separate entry for Farchie (that's Fake Archie).

I think that mostly fits in where I would put them with a few exceptions.

I really like Megan but a lot of things she is doing annoys me.

I'm a little disappointed in Rhona, Belle and Jacob's placing. I would have them higher. I'm glad most of the kids are low down, and I agree, Dan should be much lower.

Adam has improved alot since he has come back from prison and I would place him higher too.

Thanks so much for all your hard work with this; I'm looking forward to seeing all the results, and your little paragraphs are fab.

Sad to see Belle and Lisa so low. (Were they in very strong Round 1 heats, maybe?)

I'm surprised Lisa is so low - I like her - but I guess people are fed up with Belle. I liked her but the Gemma stuff got a little repetitive.

33 [56] Ashley Thomas - 6.45% Round 2
Ranking History (37-18-56-33)

Ashley rockets up the rankings after being in a tough heat last year. Ashley's had a good year; he's back to being the Vicar, and he's started a new relationship with Harriet. Things are looking up for him after the dreadful time he had under Stuart Blackburn.

31 [17] Edna Birch - 6.69% Round 2
Ranking History (10-20-17-31)

Edna doesn't just fall out of the top 20 for the first time, but the top 30 Edna's had a decent amount of screen time this year so this ranking surprises me. Her past crept back up on her in the form of Lawrence, she had a part to play with Aaron and Belle trashed her house - so I'm not quite sure why her popularity's took a dip. She's shown us a bit of vulnerability this year which was nice to see, as usually she's very cold.

31 [34] Andy Sugden - 6.69% Round 2
Ranking History (41-24-34-31)

Andy takes a small climb but is still the first Sugden casualty. It's been a big year for Andy, Robert returned, he got married to Katie and then she went and died! Despite the big storylines, it's not really helped him all that much, considering last year he barely featured yet still managed a ranking of 34. I just don't think Andy will ever be a likeable or interesting character, which is unfortunate given his ties to the show.

Belle was in a tough heat and she didn't miss out by much considering her competition, Lisa's heat wasn't that strong, in my opinion.

Really enjoying the results so far! Thank you Reserved for doing this! Surprised about Edna but her aside pretty good rankings so far!

29 [37] Priya Sharma - 6.74% Round 2
Ranking History (54-43-37-29)

Priya climbs eight places and has achieved something that many have failed to do - improve her ranking year on year. This is her first time in round two. It's been a quiet few months for Priya, but she has had her fair share of screen time this year, so it's understandable that she's been quiet over recent months. I'm interested in where they take her relationship with Rakesh over the next year.

29 [36] Harriet Finch - 6.74% Round 2
Ranking History (X-X-36-29)

Harriet made a fairly impressive debut last year and manages to improve on it this year. I've always liked Harriet and if anything this past year she's been even better. Her relationship with Ashley works, and I like that she offers support to other characters and seems passionate in helping them out in their time of need. I'm glad she's taken a step back from the "Vicar" role; hopefully she can fully come into her own now without that attached to her.

28 [48] Katie Sugden - 6.78% Round 2
Ranking History (23-26-48-28)

Katie takes a huge leap forward after being in a tough heat last year. A big year for Katie and I expected her to do a lot better than this, to be honest, due to her screen time and the news that the actress was leaving. This is the last time Katie will appear in the competition, so not exactly going out with a bang, but a big improvement on last year, at least. Goodbye, Katie, I didn't always like you but I'll miss you

26 [NE] Lawrence White - 6.91% Round 2
Ranking History (X-X-X-26)

Lawrence debuts in an impressive 26th place! I don't know how I feel about Lawrence. I really liked him when he first came into the show but since his heart attack and accepting Robert, it all seems a bit contrived. Suddenly accepting him just as Robert embarks on an affair... Such a cliche. It's small things like this that wind me up and I tend to disregard characters once they start being ridiculous.

26 [NE] Chrissie White - 6.91% Round 2
Ranking History (X-X-X-26)

Chrissie matches her dad as she also debuts at 26! The newbies this year are doing so much better than last years in the competition. I dislike Chrissie - she's such a joke of a character; I think the writing is all over the place for her. The only consistent thing about her is that she's an absolute rubbish mother - no wonder Lachlan wanted to stay with his dad. Also, I don't really like mentioning the acting unless it's to praise them, but the actress isn't that great... I've laughed quite a few times at some of her scenes

25 [22] Pearl Ladderbanks - 7.05% Round 2
Ranking History (18-23-22-25)

Pearl receives her worst ranking to date, but it's not to be sniffed at! Considering the minimal amount of screen time Pearl gets, she's done very well over the past four years. There's hints of a gambling storyline coming up for her, so that should be interesting to watch if it does indeed go in that direction.

At last FM's are starting to see Dan for the dire character that he's always been. Ruby too.

24 [24] Paddy Kirk - 7.21% Round 2
Ranking History (22-25-24-24)

Paddy sticks at 24 and has been incredibly consistent over the past four years. Paddy's a character who I like or dislike depending on who's sharing the scene with him. Mostly, I dislike him, but I've softened to him this year; I think it's due to his lack of involvement with Marlon recently.

23 [NE] April Windsor - 7.58% Round 2
Ranking History (X-X-X-23)

April makes an absolutely incredible debut - she's FOUR years old! I'd never have thought a four year old could rank so high which just proves what a fantastic addition she's been. By far the highest ranking child this year, but also the highest ranking child in the four year history of the competition. The actress has been a credit to the show from day one.

22 [14] Vanessa Woodfield - 7.62% Round 2
Ranking History (X-61-14-22)

Vanessa takes a dip, down six places but still a great ranking considering her storyline with Kirin hasn't gone down too well. I think the actress is very natural, I just wish they'd give her a worthy storyline; the character has great potential but they've never given her a real chance.

I really like Chrissie - she's crap at crying but she seems like she might be pretty ruthless when she needs to be.

21 [23] Bernice Blackstock - 8.13% Round 2
Ranking History (X-40-23-21)

Bernice climbs the rankings but not nearly enough! Bernice is a fantastic character and I was really shocked and disappointed to see her leave at this stage - I thought she'd make it to round three and she deserved to! A climb is a climb though and it proves she's winning more and more people over every year

20 [07] Moira Barton - 8.21% Round 2
Ranking History (07-10-07-20)

Moira's the first major elimination. She had made the final every single year, so to see her lose out in round two this year was a shock. Personally, I'm glad; I use to love Moira but once she cheated on John, Stuart Blackburn completely destroyed her character and her history, I just can't buy into her as a 'real' character anymore. Not only that but they made it ten times worse by having the whole James/Moira history and Adam being his son. Great actress, but she deserved so much better. They've absolutely demolished the character I once knew and loved

19 [08] Val Pollard - 8.25% Round 2
Ranking History (11-04-08-19)

The shock exits just keep coming. Val falls 11 places and receives her worst ranking to date. Really disappointed to see Val out so early; a character that can do drama and comedy. She offers a lot to the show and has some great relationships. Wish we had more Diane and Val scenes, though.
