04 [NE] Robert Sugden - 10.46% - 443 points
Ranking History (X-X-X-04)

Newbie Robert comes flying in at #4! Personally, I can't stand him and have put him bottom of every single vote, hoping, wishing and praying that people felt the same and we could get rid of him early on. It wasn't to be though, and at one point in the competition (not in the final vote), it looked like he may win the entire thing which was depressing. I'm glad he's involved in Katie's death as I'm hoping it's leading to his exit. Nothing nice to say about him at all. Sooner he goes the better. That's not a popular opinion to have though, obviously.

Think Robert's a great villain. Vile character, but a good baddie. Quite surprised he's as high as he is though.

03 [RE] Aaron Livesy - 10.79% - 457 points
Ranking History (27-X-X-03)

How apt that Robert's lapdog follows him straight out the competition! I don't understand the appeal of Aaron. His coming out storyline was the only thing the show got right with him. He's just a miserable, snarky sod who makes me want to punch the screen. Rolling his eyes at anything anyone says, no matter what they actually say. Cocky, arrogant, miserable little git. Did I mention miserable?

You seem thrilled with numbers 3 and 4, Reserved

Robert's position is astonishingly good for a 'new' character (you know what I mean) - and testament to the actor and writers, I think.

Oh, and for my money Aaron is popular because Danny is such a good actor. I can see the same character failing miserably in the hands of another actor.

So, we have our final two!

Cain vs. Ross.

Like I said at the start, the Emmerdale finale likes to be as dramatic as possible, and this year is no different - there's just FIVE POINTS in it!!!

Got to agree on Aaron. What does anyone like about him, other than him being gay? All he does is scowl, mutter and sulk. It just baffles me.

I suspect a lot of crying may ensue from the Livesey tear ducts this year.

eta: Final two: Big Bad v Little Bad!

Aaron on top of Robert - there's a first for everything

My money is on Ross to win.

I 100% agree with every bit of this. Nothing to add.

Aaron I can like sometimes. Mostly when he is a background character, when he is involved in big storylines it becomes the Aaron show and he usually turns into a not very nice person at all. Finn would be a good influence on his character I would think but I would never ever put them together, I expect Finn would be pulled into misery rather than him pulling Aaron out of it.

I don't understand the appeal of Robert or Aaron and I'm disgusted they got anywhere near the final. Chas is just as bad, and Cain and Ross aren't much better... The five characters of the final 10 that I wouldn't mind see winning stood no chance this year and placed 5th - 9th

I told myself to be good to the characters in the final because, well, it's the final and clearly they all have their fans, and I did quite well to start off with with Chas but I just couldn't keep it up. I'm outraged at the overall result of the final 10

I agree also, they are my favourites too! I just know whenever they come on screen it's going to be really well acted! Usually I hate affair plots too but I'm really rooting for them to continue!

I'm also fan of Ross (any scenes he has with April are fab) and I'm completely in love with Mr Cain Dingle! Him saving Belle this week had me swooning! Great results!!

02 [02] Cain Dingle - 11.26% - 477 points
Ranking History (04-02-02-02)

Cain once again is the runner up for the THIRD year running! This has to be painful for all you dedicated Cain fans out there! A beautiful ranking history though, and well, you're just going to have come back next year and try all over again

It brings a whole new meaning to "if at first you don't succeed..."
There comes a point where you give up, so will Cain ever win this competition or is he destined to start dropping down the rankings from now on? Maybe he'll just be the runner up every year?

01 [21] Ross Barton - 11.38% - 482 points
Ranking History (X-X-21-01)

Last year, Ross was the highest new entry at #21. This year, he's the highest ranked character of the current cast! I'm pretty flabbergasted, to be honest, as he never ran away with the votes in any previous rounds so I didn't expect this at all. I started warming to Ross throughout the Donna storyline but he's just reverted back to same old since her death. I've given up trying to like him now, but clearly I'm in a very tiny minority because Ross is the WINNER of Digital Spy's Favourite Character 2015 competition! Congratulations to him and his fans! He's taken on 72 other characters and trounced them all. Well deserved!

Wow, Ross! So surprised, I know loads of people hate him!

I love him though, so yay.

Thanks for doing this Reserved, it's been brilliant. Really enjoyed it. And yay for having so many great characters to vote for - love Kerry and Nicola and Cain and Ross and Charity and Robert and loads of others.

Results of Round 3, Heat 1:

1. Ross Barton - 12.76%
2. Robert Sugden - 12.64%
3. Aaron Livesy - 12.25%
=. Charity Dingle - 12.25%
5. Alicia Metcalfe - 11.26%
6. Chas Dingle - 10.45%

7. Finn Barton - 10.18%
8. Jimmy King - 10.06%
9. Zak Dingle - 8.13%

Charity and Ross pulled away from everyone else pretty quickly, whilst Zak fell behind - everyone else was a contender for a place in the top six. Even halfway through the vote, the gap between third and eighth was only about 15 points at one point. Robert then started to pull away from the pack, and by that point, I knew he'd secured his place in the top six alongside Charity and Ross. It was only in the last 15 or so votes that Aaron and Alicia managed a boost to guarantee their places in the next round. Then the fight was on for sixth place between Chas, Finn and Jimmy but Finn and Jimmy couldn't quite manage it.

In terms of movement up and down the rankings, nothing really changed much; the order sort of stood still for the majority of the vote, but the characters still couldn't open up any sort of a gap between themselves. The only noteable change to the rankings was Charity getting knocked off the top spot after dominating it in the first half - the story of her life in the competition this year, it seems!
