Hello

It's never too early to speculate. What do you think, or what would you like to happen this Christmas? Which family would you like to take to take centre stage and who would the storyline involve?

I wouldn't mind something happening with the Mitchell's. We didn't get a Mitchell Christmas in 2014 so I'd like to see another one of their iconic Christmas dinners. Perhaps they can bring Aunt Sal for the occasion.

I definitely think DTC has something special planned for Ronnie and Sharon that he's keeping secret, so I'd like to see these two in the forefront, as they should be!

I definitely think a Mitchell Christmas is in order this year!

2014 - Carters
2013 - Janine's story
2012 - Brannings
2011 - Masoods
2010 - Stacey's exit

Bring back Peggy & Grant for a special Christmas storyline!.....Aunt Sal too of course!!

Having Phil, Sharon, Peggy, Grant, Ronnie, Roxy all together would be amaze!!

I have a feeling it will be a Mitchell Christmas with possible cameo from Aunt Sal and Peggy.

I also think Stacey will be a big feature at Christmas which will incorporate all the Slaters.

The Carters will feature but not as prominently as last year.

When do they film the christmas episodes? I'd love a Mitchell christmas, but I thought they weren't getting them because so many of them did panto at that time of the year?

It was filmed in October, a while before they did the panto. They weren't in it because it was the Carters instead.

Would like the Foxes/Trueman's to take centre stage for xmas.

But it does seem the Mitchells are due for one. But Steve Mcfadden's compulsory Panto doing puts a damper on that. You can always tell as Phil is even given a temporary exit or never appears every xmas. I am sure Steve can pass on panto for one year.

I reckon he's got it in his contract. It's quite hard to believe that he could wriggle his way out of work every single Christmas.

Maybe he cashes in his holiday days at once to do Panto? I believe Linda Henry does that every summer so she can spend a few months with her husband and his family in Greece.

I have a feeling it could be someone's exit. Possibly Carol but I hope not.

Oh I do hope so. The Slater's and The Mitchell's were superb late 2009 - early 2010!

I think it will be a big Mitchell xmas this year. They deserve it. I also think Kathy will be heavily involved in the Xmas episodes.

I'd love a Mitchell Christmas, and I'd like the Slaters to get a big Christmas.

I'd also like to see stuff from the Beale's, with Kathy... And also the Carters, but they deserve a happy Christmas after their last one.

2014 Christmas was probably the worst Christmas episode EastEnders has ever or produced. It was bland, it was dull, there was no atmosphere, the performances were exactly spectacular (Good, but nothing outstanding, IMO). Yes it was a good script, but only half the cast appeared and we practically knew everything that was going to happen, before the episode aired. Boxing Day and New Year's Day were 10,000x better, and the 30th anniversary blew them all out of the water.

So, I hope we get a much better, exciting, atmospheric Christmas this year, with better twists and a good storyline (Last years had a good storyline, but it was just a poor episode!).

It's going to be hard to do, but I'd like them to try and beat 2009. Now THAT was gripping drama...

I hope it's a Mitchell Christmas this year.

I really don't think panto affects Christmas filming, as they do it before panto rehearsals begin.
Ronnie and Phil featured heavily at New Year and both the actors did panto.

I think quite a few members of the cast have a pantomine break, although perhaps not every year. Stories aren't written in to accommodate it for a lot of them - they just don't appear as much.

I wonder if Tanya will be back by Christmas?

I know Jo said she has no plans to return yet, but she could return with Lauren, after Jacqueline Jossa's maternity leave...

I hope she does anyway. Tanya is such a good character. There's 3 Walford ladies I'd LOVE to return under DTC, and they are Janine, Tanya and Zainab. Come on Dom!

I thought Carol might leave, but it's looking like Lindsey Coulson has a long term future on the show... I could be wrong, but if she does, then brilliant, as Carol is a fantastic character!

I'd love for Robbie to return aswell. The Jackson's unfortunately didn't appear last Christmas. If they brought Robbie back (I don't understand why this hasn't happened with Bianca gone?), then this would give the Jackson's more a screen time, and help to make Carol a Walford matriarch.

I doubt Carol will leave, and if she does, I don't think it would be a Christmas storyline.

I agree. The Carters didn't quite suffice for me... I'm annoyed that DTC didn't give us the iconic Mitchell Christmas and invite back Aunt Sal, I'm sure she'd have had a few words for Charlie, Aleks and Sharon. The New Year's episode was certainly more gripping.

Where DTC went wrong, is that he tried to recreate 2007 (his words). He shouldn't be recreating, he should be attempting to beat it. Christmas is something that needs at least a year-long of planning, a month long build-up, and a couple weeks long aftermath. If he's just going to rewatch the 2007 tapes, repeat everything and change the storyline, then what's the point? There's no surprise.

NO! I hope not. They've done so many issue based storylines with that family, I honestly don't see where they can take them, when Linda gives birth and Stan dies. They've had as many storylines over the past year, as what some characters/families have had over a decade!

They can give them dramatic/sensational storyline (Which I kind of prefer anyway), but I don't know wether that would suit the Carters.

Exactly. The storyline was strong, but it was a bit of a mess and the Carters created half the buzz the Branning's created with their spectacular 2007 Christmas.

They tried to be a bit clever with the writing IMO and in the end all we got was a good script, whilst everything else was pretty flat. Normally, you get a good range of characters, but 2014 only really featured the Carters and the Beales, Brannings, and a few others. The atmosphere was flat and it just didn't feel that Christmasy at all. The Boxing Day episode however, had a huge cast, lots of different plots, whilst there being a main plot, lots more drama and we didn't know what was going to happen. It was a much better episode IMO.

For me, Christmas 2009 EastEnders was one of the best episodes to date. It's a shame we never got as much of a good Christmas episode, before the 30th, like we did before the 25th. I thought the 30th was actually a bit better than the 25th, so it's a shame it never had as much of a strong Christmas episode a couple of months before it.

A storyline to end all storylines!

Sadly, DTC has said he's got loads more stuff planned for the Carters.

.

I like Mick, Shirley, Tina. I also find Dean very interesting.

However, I just find Linda, Nancy and Lee an annoying extension of Mick. I struggled to sympathise with Linda through her silence. The plot was written so badly until Linda confessed to Mick. It went round and around and around and around...
