iTunes Question
Master Ozzy
16-02-2015
I want to buy Madonna's new album. It's not out until 9th March so you can pre-order it now for £11.99. However, there's 8 tracks from the album that you can actually buy now for 99p each. What I'm wondering is, if I pay 99p now for each of the 8 tracks, when the entire album is released in March, will I just have to pay a few pounds to complete the album? What I mean is, with the 8 tracks now available plus 'complete album' in March, will it cost me more than £11.99?

It'll be on YouTube soon, if it isn't it already, so download the tracks as mp3s. The quality will be good enough these days.

I'm pretty sure it should take the price down.

Or just pay for music from the artists you like? What a crazy idea that is!

No, it'll be the same. You'll be charged straight away for the 8 tracks you instantly get (7.92£) and then the rest will be done when you get the whole album on March 9th. So you might aswell 'buy the album' rather than individually clicking all the tracks - but it doesn't really matter

You can the CD from WowHD for a cheaper price btw - including the Super Deluxe Edition!

If you buy all 8 tracks separately, this will cost £7.92 on iTunes (99p x 8).

When the album is released, this figure will be deducted from £11.99 so you will be charged £4.07 to Complete My Album.

That's how iTunes works.

Do what you like, I don't mind.

I'm not getting into a debate how the music industry has ripped off the public for decades.
But I'll give you a clue. CDs cost to produce, a fraction of that of a vinyl record when they first came out. So they made them more expensive!

Good, so as you first quoted my post which wasn't directed at you, we can now both move on.

Yes if you download the 8 songs now the album will be cheaper to buy when the album is released on 9 of March. I have downloaded the 8 song myself so I can get the rest of the album for £4.07

LOL. Who pays for music in 2015? They've had decades and decades of ripping us off. The ball is in our court now.

You could argue that for most industries. Still doesn't exactly justify theft.

I do. Would you walk into a cinema or a theatre and just decide not to pay?

No. Though very few movies i feel deserve the cinema treatment. I perhaps go 4 or 5 times a year.

Generally people who respect music artists and want music artists to continue to record new material. Would you expect to work for months and invest money into producing a product just for others to steal it. How have they been ripping anyone off no one has ever been forced into purchasing music. Why do you think it's your right to steal?
