Is it weird that I would quite like to see and official collaboration between the two?

He's also getting some stick for collaborating with Rihanna and Kanye West. These folks need to simmer down, he can work with whoever he wants, it won't exactly ruin his legacy.

Agree totally. The old boy is having fun + loves all types of music. Good to see him not afraid to get down with the youngsters!

Agree totally and I'm a big fan of Paul. I think he just adores performing and playing.

Given his legacy he's earned the right to do what he likes!

I notice on an American message board that the Beatles, still attract endless comments.

Frankly I could take them or leave them.

As for McCartney now, in my opinion, he's another "oldy" who just doesn't know when to give up.
Music has moved on.

Maybe he doesn't want to give up. Maybe he still gets great enjoyment out of performing.

As long as he has that, he should continue.

And he shouldn't give up. fair play to him. And when Sam Smith has faded away into the "no longer popular because we've moved on" category, Paul will still be performing in front of vast crowds, selling out his tours and singing his heart out.

Why should he give up? Music is what he does. So long as he enjoys it and some others do, there's no reason why he should stop. In fact there's no reason why he should stop even if no-one likes it!

I'm not a fan myself but I don't get this "once you're past a certain age you should stop, just by virtue of being past that age per se."

Music has moved on.
Music has moved on since Mozart. Should orchestras stop playing Mozart? The fact that music has moved on does not in itself say anything. It doesn't say whether it's better worse. Each piece should be judged on its merits.
