Anyone Else "Irritated" By Acting "Flirtation" Between Danny Dyer + Barbra Windsor?
That scene while I quite liked it to begin with but at the same time kinda got on my nerves too as it seemed the acting equivelent of flirting with each other between Danny Dyer/Mick Carter and Barbra Windsor as Peggy Mitchell.
IMO and experiences this happens far too much in general. It happens in EE a lot when new big characters come in and or older big characters come back and its so obvious they are being paired up in scenes with other big characters for the sake of it and are doing the rounds in getting through all other big characters in the programe too so they can say afterwards "I really enjoy working with....."! ![]() It also happens too much in other TV programmes and films. You can almost see actors laugh, strugle to hide their admiration for each other. Again, half of me likes it, but the other half of me gets niggled by it as surely they should have got all that out of the way before getting down to filming their scenes? |

The cameo line was a bit too obvious for my liking and the line/advice about the dodgy pump is a bit late isn't it? Surely Mick and everyone who works at the pub would know that by now?
He thought she was just a stranger who had wandered in and had stated her intention not to buy a drink. The pub was also booked for a private party, hence him asking her to leave. Her remark about the pump was to let him know that she had worked behind that bar in the past. |

Not really. It was silly but it added to the sense of occasion. I thought it was a lovely idea.

At any other time that would have been an annoyance. But with it being EE's 30's I just saw it a cutesy scene. As has been said, to give it a sense of occasion. |

I said pretty much the same thing to my other half when we were watching it.

[quote=doormouse1;77017115]Mick does not know who Peggy is, or her history of owning the pub.

It was a fun 'tongue-in-cheek' scene ....I'm sure there will be a few more to come celebrating its 30 years!!
Reminded me of the sort of thing 'Crossroads' would have done in their day!

Didn't like the scene at first. I watched the episode again on iPlayer later and reckon it was pretty sweet. The mannerisms of both Peggy and Mick made nice touches.
