Its not coming up on i player via Sky/Smart TV, catch up TV, seems like its only available online only.

Re BIB, the BBC really should have known better by then. The Race Relations Act of 1976 has been in place for nearly 9 years and that criminalised Racism, racist words/expressions/treatment so what was society inc the BBC doing in 1985? Ignoring it until ethnic minorities grew a voice and in numbers enough before they stopped saying racist words? That's why people moan about "PC Gone Mad" I think. They are basically saying they want to be racist but can't get away with it anymore! @ those that want to be racist!

It's available through red button as well, so if you click the red button whilst on BBC1 you'll be able to watch it on the TV

I tried it, its still not coming up. It goes back to the general catch up menu and i player on the tv.

p.s.

I called the BBC about it, apparently its only exclusive to I Player online it seems as their is a rights issue about putting it on sky's catch up facilities. i did query though how come other BBC programmes don't have that problem but to answer my own question, amybe its because this episode goes back to before the internet/i player ever existed?

They are, but very real issues that they covered at the time, a couple of episodes in of 1985 have Nick mocking Kelvin calling him a monkey.

I think it's a typo means N instead of B.

Yes very!

Its not allowed to be said on TV at all now. You will need to look up the definition to see why.

Must be a North-South thing. Up here it is a commonly used mild expletive on the same scale as (Oh) Damn and (Oh) Crap. And it still quite common to here people be called sillly/little bugger without offence.

Isn't it more about reflecting the real word and acknowledging through characters that that sort of thing still existed despite the laws around it? I'm not a huge fan of EastEnders but no show dares to do anything like that anymore and as a result we had that ridiculous racism plot in Corrie a couple of years ago - when compared to real life it wasn't really racist at all. It depends on how far you want to take it, you can't be hugely politically correct and maintain three dimensional, realistic characters.
