EE: So Shirley just "believes" whichever son happens to be around
Shirley refused to believe Dean was a rapist and when Mick disappeared to Watford, Shirley went even harder when it came to believing Dean and discrediting Linda.
Now Dean (poor, misunderstood Dean ) has disappered off somewhere and Shirley is quickly cosying up to Mick, has toned-down her anti-Linda agenda and has made little or no attempt to keep on defending Dean. What a mother, eh? I'd hate to be her son. Turn your back for a few minutes and she hangs you out to dry.

I asked one of the writers who had written some of the episodes and they said that Shirley is torn, she doesn't know who to believe. She is conflicted. Shirley obviously wants a relationship with both of her sons but she is caught in the middle. She hasn't hung either of them out to dry, if she had forgotten Dean she wouldn't be keeping Blades open for him, she is trying to suppprt them both. I do think she needs to find out fully soon though. We don't know how she is acting towards Linda as they have barely interacted.
EastEnders is full of bad parents anyway, Sharon and Roxy often forget they have a kid and don't even start me on Ian...
