Eastenders is the best soap on tv
As eastenders is clearly the best soap/show on TV right now I think we should get #EastendersIsTheBestSoapOnTv trending before the 7:30pm Ep goes out tonight!

Of course EE is the best soap, and it always will be.

If we just forget about Emmerdale, then yes it's the best soap.

Corrie has always been my most favourite soap but EE has changed all that at the moment. The last three months on EE have been the most amazing storylines making Corrie's storylines seem quite boring to compare.
Well done to Eastenders writers. |

It is right now but once the Lucy hype dies down then Emmerdale gets a look in too. I will be watching Eastenders tonight in it's first slot instead of Emmerdale though. That's because I want to know who killed Lucy and will want to come on here straight after.

Emmerdale has lots of stories at the moment, the Bartons mother, Andy and Robert, Lauren and her drinking, and so on, but soaps have to have smaller storylines bubbling all of the time or else when the big ones finish, it is back to the crap that we saw on EE a couple of years ago. I hope for the sake of EE that someone comes up with some good bubbling storylines soon. |

Kat and Alfie have a big storyline coming, Sharon and her real family, Ronnie and whoever Vincent is, Phil's news for Ian, Stacey also has a big year in front of her. It's not just about the Carters.

Kat and Alfie are boring and I'm sick of them tbh. There is no creativity in their storyline.
I think deano rapo and the story of stans assisted death will also be a prominent story. Let's not forget there will alsonso the aftermath of tonight and it would be good if we saw ian want revenge |

Can't EastEnders fans just enjoy their show without all this passive-aggressive soap wars nonsense? This is why we need individual forums.

Same old same old. After this week there is nothing coming up to make me want to carry on watching. I only tuned back in to see who the killer is. Emmerdale on the other hand has lots going on, even Corrie, lots of little stoylines coming up, looking forward to real Gavin and to seeing what happens with Andy, also Jenny is back also Sarah Lou and Bethany.lots of different things.EE needs to try and hold on to the people who have come back this week, but I am not sure that there is much to interest the casual viewer. One week does not a soap, make

I think EE is the more distinctive of the soaps. If a comedian says '....it's so depressing EE are thinking of using it for their feel-good Christmas story this year', - everyone will get the joke because EE is stereotypically a bit dark and gloomy. No other soap is easily defined. The same with the 'doof-doof' moment at the end, that's somethiing that people do in the pub for a laugh when their mate say they've lost their wallet or something or to otherwise send-up a quasi-serious moment. No other soap has that either.
Prefereces for storylines aside I do think EE is the most iconic soap on Brritish TV in terms of how its mannerisms, quirks and gimmicks bleed into other areas of culture. |

I love all the soaps I watch. I don't understand the ribbing that goes on in the "soap wars". I usually manage to watch them all including Hollyoaks on E4 and see EE at 10.30 if there's a clash. Right now I'm loving Eastenders because of the Lucy story and the new guy Vincent, I love the Bartons on Emmerdale and the Coronation Street storyline with Callum being Max's dad. Hollyoaks has improved recently since the awful kidnapping merry go round. There's something I like in all of them

Why are the Eastenders fans who aee saying EE is better than Emmerdale and corrie giving all of us fans a bad name by their competitive and frankly disrespectful remarks. does it make you feel superior to put down other shows or something?

I agree with this - the minority give the majority a bad name. Also yesterday a FM started a thread saying that Emmerdale is starting 15 minutes early tonight. It was very civilised with several of us thanking them for the reminder. If it had been Eastenders that was starting 15 minutes early there would have been a 5 page thread with people moaning about it, throwing a hissy fit etc. I'm not being deliberately horrible here as this has happened many times since I joined this forum.
As for which Soap is better isn't that just personal opinion. I think Neighbours and Doctors are both better at the moment (more normal and less gloomy) but that is just my opinion. |

It's definitely putting all the others in the shade now. Well, definitely Corrie and Hollyoaks! I can't speak for Emmerdale as I don't watch it.
