Putlocker streaming legality?

Apologies if this has been asked before, but does anyone know what the legal position is of watching streamed movies on Putlocker? As the movie isn't being downloaded in its entirety or stored does this mean there is no copyright infringement being committed by the viewer?

No, the UK position is that streaming something counts as making a copy (as you are copying it to the computer memory), so is just as infringing as downloading.

If you would need to have the entire thing broadcasters wouldn't be able to commit copyright infringement.

“The UK's major internet service providers (ISPs) have begun blocking Putlocker and a number of other free video streaming sites following a court order.

Internet users have reported that sites like Putlocker, which host free streams of popular TV shows and films, have become inaccessible in recent days.”

Perfectly legal in the EU apparantly aslong as you're not downloading it or making a copy. http://viralkodi.com/news/yes-you-ca...t-infringement

Think many are using Proxys/VPNS to get around this issue.

I am aware that people who've actually downloaded films have received formal warning letters of various sorts because of ISP cooperation with copyright bodies but so far I'm not aware of anyone receiving letters like that for just watching films.
