Does anyone else really enjoy eating faggots nowadays?

I regularly buy them and enjoy them, one of the reminders of my childhood and a food I've never lost the liking for. But I never seem to see or speak to another person that ever eats them. Delicious with mashed potato and peas, I can eat a whole box easily. Always the ones by Mr Brains though. I've never seen another brand on the shelves that I've noticed.

Faggots aside, what about any other "childhood" foods that you still like eating as an adult? Spotted Dick was another favourite, but I haven't tried one in years.

And if you ever visit the USA I would suggest you do not tell the waiter/waitress you would like to try some either.

More or less yes

Shouldn't this be in 'Food & Drink' actually?

Where is Mr Value when you need him!

Bleh. *retch*

I'll never understand why people eat this sort of thing. Black Pudding is another one that I don't even need to taste to know is vile.

I hope I don't still need permission when I'm just past forty. Some people can only ever see an innuendo in the most innocent of thoughts. I just knew it would flush out one or two of you, but it's a legitimate asking point.

A good question was raised by Hypnodisc - Just what is the difference between a faggot and a meatball exactly?

I think the name Mr Brains puts people off them. What else do they actually make?

Why not post it in Food & Drink then? Surely you'd get legitimate replies as people would assume you're referring to the food item.

Without looking up the history i'd guess at it just being the regional name for that type of meatball (using offal).

You probably won't believe me if I tell you this, but despite being on DS for nearly 3 years I've never looked at the Food & Drink section and have only just noticed it even exists, or I would have done. That's absolutely honest!

You make an interesting point about it being a 'regional name'.

The only reason I know what they are is they seem common in Wales where my family is from. I've never heard of or seen them here (South-East England).

I had a friend who would often put his spotted dick inside a faggot, I've no idea why. It'd come out all smelly, and then he'd get someone to eat it afterwards.
