Weren't my cup of tea, but as "social history," I found this watchable.

It's from a 1964 film of the same name, with a notable cast.

I liked them.......for the first couple of years they were one of the big 4 or 5 groups with a string of hits

Needles and Pins was a great single........as was Sweets For My Sweet, Don't Throw Your Love Away

They did seem to have a long lingering fade away from the charts though

I liked The Searchers too and apart from the songs mentioned in your post I liked When You Walk In The Room and What Have They Done To The Rain. They also recorded a good version of Love Potion Number 9.

The best version of that was by The Coasters.

Who also amongst others recorded, Poison Ivy.

I also liked "Little Egypt." I like pop songs with little stories.

They were indirectly responsible for starting Deep Purple. Their drummer Chris Curtis had the idea of putting himself Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore. Together in a band called Roundabout. Curtis soon went and left the music business. However Blackmore and Lord decided to get a band together. Which was Purple.

Thanks Doghouse, I'm old enough to remember The Coasters and enjoyed Little Egypt,

Do you remember Elvis singing it in Roustabout, just one of the awful movies he made despite the fact that one of my all time favourites, Barbara Stanwyck was in it.

Yes I remember that.

I also like "Zing Went the Strings of My Heart."

it was the "B side" to "Yakety-Yak." I've got a 45 of it in one of my jukeboxes.

I like the tenor singer on this and the simple tenor sax solo..

Difficult to pigeon-hole this group, but I guess you'd call it "Doo-Wop," rather Rock n' Roll.

Digressing.

Although remembered mostly as a brother and sister singing act,. Nino Tempo was an excellent tenor and baritone sax player.
