I was just watching On the Waterfront and thinking how amazing the story, the script, the direction and of course the acting are. Especially Marlon Brando arguably the greatest actor of the Twentieth Century. The most popular and influential method actor who also made some great films; The Godfather, A Streetcar Named Desire, Apocalypse Now, Last Tango in Paris etc
Currently there is not a single film of his on Netflix, not even any of his rubbish films and this is a shame.
Just sayin'

What makes you think they've ignored and just not able the obtain the license at the current time?

The Last Air Bender considered to be one of the worst films by Rotten Tomatoes, not me I have not seen it, is on Netflix. I just looked on Amazon and the cost of a copy of The Last Air Bender and Apocalypse Now, a really great film, are the same so I assume that the cost of the licence to show these films would be similar? Is that a fair assumption? I am not a lawyer or anything

Hahaha you couldn't be any more wrong if you tried, the cost of films to buy on Amazon have no relevance in obtaining the license to show certain content on Netflix.
It's a bit more complicated than that as another provider my have the license to show such things which prevents Netflix from obtaining until the license agreement ends.

I feel the OP's pain. Although I've always found Brando an overripe, overrated slice of prime ham, the greatest screen actor of the twentieth century, Montgomery Clift, isn't there either.

The Godfather films were recently removed from netflix.

I remember reading an article around the same time this forum got moved and it had godfather included in some sort of 'must watch' list. I remember it because not long before that the film was on the maft last chance list and had already been removed.

I watched The Godfather for the first time last weekend and I was surprised how incredibly overrated it is. I found it so dull, and I love mafia movies. Brando didn't stand out at all. I didn't find him intimidating or mesmerising as you'd expect from all the hype. I still don't know why he is rated so highly.

BIB - I'm with you on that. He was wonderful. Ol' Brando did have charisma, though.
