I was aware that Three had a sort of relaunch if you will, last year so I knew their prices were higher this time around even as an existing customer however the ONLY reason I stayed with them was for all you can eat data. However when I got my girlfriend to check her my3 app before it said on her allowances the usual minutes and texts, but now it says all you can eat data but then it says 5120 megabytes usage left? What's happening there?

It says all you can eat data but it sounds like there's now a usage limit on it? Can anybody help please?

Thanks!

Is this the first month since your upgrade?

If so that's why.

Also is it tethering?

Yes it's the first month since upgrading her phone, in fact I think it's been only about 2 weeks.

Sorry what's tethering again? I should know that I've asked about it 100 times!

So if it's now a 5GB usage limit for AYCE data, it's not unlimited data now.

This poster has the answer. Your app/allowance will re-adjust itself soon enough.

Stand down everyone.

I have a 4GB data allowance on Three and noticed that on Three's website it showed I'd used 1.5Gb this month but my phone's Three app showed 350mb (as did my phone's data usage) so I don't trust their web based data usage display.

Tbf that's why I went for AUCE data because I know I would go over that in a single day I constantly use my data because I'm always browsing or watching videos. With 4G I would be worrying all the time haha.

If you manage to find a Nokia 3210, you won't have to worry about data usage

I am due for an upgrade April and I was in Carphone Warehouse yesterday (just browsing handsets), I mentioned I was on Three and the salesman said that they are stopping their unlimited data! I though that AUCE was still available and it is the tethering that is now capped. Is that right of have I got it wrong?

I believe Carphone Warehouse hasn't sold 3 contracts for a long time.

So I'd take it with a pinch of salt - they'll lie about 3 because they want you to buy a phone in their store, on a network that they do sell. Especially that since they don't have a relationship with 3 they're hardly privvy to any details before they go public

Yes, Three hasn't been on offer in Carphone Warehouse for some time - not even PAYG SIM cards.

So, I wouldn't expect to be told anything positive that might make me want to consider Three and therefore have to leave the store.

Although Dixons Carphone has recently signed an MVNO agreement with Three.

"Graham Stapleton, CEO of Carphone Warehouse UK & Ireland says: “The announcement of our new network supports our strategic vision to continue to offer customers the widest range of connections, for when they are at home or on-the-go.”"

Yes, but clearly there won't be any unlimited data there.

I don't know what CPW will be offering.

My point was it would be daft for CPW to continue trashing Three UK as a network as often happens in its stores.

Not really. They want you to sign up to their own network (or another network that they get commission from). It doesn't matter if their own MVNO actually uses 3 or not. I doubt that the branding will have 3's logo anywhere on it

Similar to how Giffgaff attempts to compete with networks like O2, despite being owned by O2 and uses O2's network.

Id probably say it depends on what they are saying.
Comments about Three having poor coverage or speeds would be plain stupid as the MVNO would be using the same network (so suffer from the same speed or coverage issues). But comments about tariffs, customer service, billing etc would still be fair game as they are separate for the MVNO.
