Interscope & Madonna

Wandering what people's view is so far of Interscopes management of releasing Madonna's music?
From what I have previously read and in my opinion most people found the entire MDNA releasing and promotion quite poor. IMO her worst ever cover art and worst single releases from an Album.
So I was expecting far better for Rebel Heart and on the whole it's already 100% better from cover art to initial first track releasing. But the problem I have is the WTF is all the different formatting. The album in the UK is Standard CD and Deluxe CD, Clean CD. For some reason Interscope has decided not to release The Super Deluxe version in UK although is available in import. The Super Deluxe version has various formats dependent on which country as does the deluxe. Each online retailer has several listings in CD ranging from 7.99 to 38.99. WOWHD appears to have the cheapest deals.

Living For Love single release in UK held back until Feb 27th, which IMO was the right choice with the Brits performance but I'm really disappointed with the physical release. No vinyl version, either on 12" release or picture disc.
Cd version only released in Germany on 2 track Cd so no full remix CD.
Cover art of CD just The Rebel Heart Art cover with pink overlay.
I am disappointed as over the years I have collected vinyl and Cd as many Madonna fans have and whilst WB weren't the best ever at releasing I found them far more organised in releasing and knowing what was being released.
It appears to me that Interscope are so focussed in trying to get higher sales in the U.S particularly after the poor performance of sales of MDNA. That they are multiple format releasing all with different cover art, releasing multiple format track listing differing by 1 or 2 tracks in each territory to cash in on fans and collectors.
Yet disappointing fans and collectors by lack of physical releases of the CD single, picture disc etc.
I'm starting to hope she completes her deal with LiveNation / Interscope and begs WB to take her back.

Where has it been confirm that the super deluxe isn't available in the UK? First I've heard of that. Its listed on Amazon now too.

I don't think it was the label's fault for MDNA. I think it was the case of release an album, do a tour and get paid. She seemed to me she had no ambition to really promote MDNA at all. Not compared to how she has with previous albums and of course with Rebel Heart.

I agree. I think MDNA was just an excuse to tour. No real promo whatsoever, even her management confirmed that. This campaign is already infinite better as she has confirmed interviews all over the place.

As for lack of physical single formats, unfortunately that's just the way it is these days. I'm disappointed too as I've collected music for years, but I'm not surprised because they don't sell - Girl Gone Wild proved that. At least we have a German import.

I do miss the USA maxi singles though

It's on Wikipedia release info although a lot has changed over past week. Its also on the Madonna release catalogues with extensive variations from each territory.

The UK release is standard and deluxe version only. Although the UK is the only territory to get a Vinyl Album release on the 30th of March. The Super Deluxe versions listed on Amazon or other websites selling the super Deluxe are imports most likely from U.S. or the German version. The Japanese version of the Superdeluxe is most likely the most expensive version as they usually are the most expensive imports.
U.S. Germany and Japan are the only territories to get a Super Deluxe version. France Fnac stores also have an exclusive version of the deluxe containing extra tracks.
That's why I'm finding it quite confusing and apart from my iTunes pre- order have resisted ordering any physical formats yet.

Why are the super deluxe versions only in some countries? Does Madonna hate us

Nothing to do with Madonna its Interscope that's doing the releasing. I Think it's more to do with maximising sales potential. The more formats out there the more physical sales especially imports as due to streaming/MP3 sales which are locked per territory physical sales of the products are easily obtained from online retailers. IMO I also think the Super Deluxe might have been a last minute rush release due to the leaks and having to release tracks early in December due to hacking.

Don't trust Wikipedia - anybody can edit that. Amazon UK lists all three formats for the 9th March release, and none of them are marked as Imports. We're getting them all

Hope your right Glyn, but I trust Amazon's listings less. I've been caught out numerous times pre-ordering with them only to find out the product is not released or they gave wrong listing. It's also interesting the super deluxe they have listed is 34.99 which doesn't seem right if it's a UK release nearly three times the price of the deluxe for an extra 5/6 tracks.

Hmm......i'm pretty sure Madonna has always released physical singles. Remember Germany and France still release CD singles and vinyl singles.

She has until Turn up the Radio was the first she didn't release on any physical format. It's only Germany getting a physical 2 track cd. Of Living for Love and no maxi Cd at all in any territory. Disappointing again!

I can understand why Living for Love has been held back for the UK, after the mistake of giving away Gimme All Your Luv'in, which made it not qualify for the UK Top40, would of been no.1 too.
It will be interesting to see if LFL gets to no.1 as it's available everywhere else already for those who want it.

The Rebel Heart era all ready feels 'more epic' than MDNA era, as said already Madonna seemed to be going through the motions last time. She seems more interested and happier this time round.
The press seem more supportive too.

Listed as £17.99 now which is a bit more realistic

Who's to say Warners would have done any better than Interscope. They got loads of criticism from M fans over the last few years with their own handling of Madonna.

It seems that ever since leaving Warner, she is becoming a lot more generous with her bonus tracks and special editions, we got a magnificent MDNA Tour release (DVD+full live CD) something which Warners never managed to get right.

I do miss the single releases (I miss the times of 2CDs and vinyls, picture discs etc), but again, who's to say Warners would have continued with that had she have stayed. We got nothing for revolver, and the Celebration / greatest hits treatment was unforgivable. They had one of the worlds biggest superstars on their roster, and they put out that mess of a Greatest Hits!

I don't class that celebration album as a proper greatest hits. More of a best of/highlights album. I never understood why people moaned about the tracklisting. The title would of been Celebration - Greatest Hits or Celebration - The Ultimate Collection. But the album was titled as Celebration, which doesn't given any indication of what sort of album it is. But a greatest hits it wasn't.

She was Warner a very long time and they knew her and they knew her audience inside out, she should never have left but she never forgive them after their fallout over Maverick in the early 00s so I think it was on the cards for a while.

I find it bizarre (and slightly incredible) that the title track (and best track IMO) Rebel Heart is being left off versions. WTF??

I will avoid the super deluxe edition. Turns out it is digipack and I hate digipack packagings, as the CD isn't protected well and it becomes scratched over time.

It was marketed as 'the ultimate hits collection'. I never understood why they never managed to put together a decent companion to Immaculate Collection.

The 2Cd version was ok for a standard, but the 1cd was just a waste. They should have done a 3 or 4cd special edition instead. That's why people moaned about the tracklist. Over half of her hits (genuine hits too, not just odds and ends) were completely ignored.
