Now we discover the real reason Connie is clinical lead - cos her Dad was in A&E once.

I was hoping for something a little more interesting than that.

I see that the temporary truce over last week's child killer has ended with Connie's the evil Machiavellian ploy of .... some patient questionairre forms - much to rabbit-in-headlights-head-nurse's annoyance.

Dylan won't take over Connie's job. Amanda Mealing is not leaving Casualty...

It's good to see Connie's meltdown scenes. Connie Beauchamp was the best character in Holby City.

Yes she can but I think Connie will always be clinical lead as long as she's in Casualty. Connie always work well when she is "top dog". Besides, Connie is still clinical lead in June according to the recent news about Charles Venn's casting news.

Connie wouldn't work underneath anybody else. Clinical leads do need to be ruthless to some extent. She just needs to stop being so erratic as well.

And tbf, some of the stuff she calls is spot on. She was right to be annoyed with Robyn and Lofty arsing about in full view of all the patients who were sitting waiting to be seen.

I'm so bored of her doing the same thing every week for a few months now, I'm not even bothered if I miss episodes of it now, used to love it but just bored now.

The problem is, it's the same thing every ep. Connie and Rita bitch at each other...Connie bitches at other staff...Connie goes into her office and gets over-emotional...Connie sees her (thanks to the enormous windows in her office...Charlie goes into the office to chat with Connie...etc! It's boring and repetitive.

Connie spices things up in the show. She's a very interesting character. Have any of you seen her in Holby City? Connie's frequent "'meltdowns" is nothing new. She's very bitchy but she does have a good heart deep down. Connie wants the ED to improve and she's a better clinical lead than Zoe. But Connie is interesting when there are personal issues happening to her.

Amanda Mealing is one of the best ever actresses in Casualty and they shouid be very lucky to have her. But I want Connie to be stronger now and overcome her issues.

No wonder she's constantly irritated by the staff..

Rita's always bitching.
Robyn interferes despite being told not to and get on with her job.
Cal is completely unprofessional, flirting with patients, taking credit not due to him and leaving the hospital for a quick roll in the hay with his latest girlfriend.
Lily is just plain bad tempered and talk to the patients like they're dirt.
Lofty knows better than the doctors every week.
The girl on the reception desk treats patients like they're only there to annoy her.

The biggest problem with Casualty and now Holby City too is that the whole shooting match is being run by Oliver Kent, a man who wouldn't know the true origins of Casualty if it bit him.

For folks who remember the original basis for Casualty of strong characters, excellent writing and tackling the political issues of the day, this is a million miles away from that.

As much as I love some of those characters, you're completely right

I've given up on Casualty as it is awful at the moment. Putting the character of Connie into A&E just does not make sense. She is a temperamental highly skilled/specialised consultant. She was a successor to Anton Meyer in that role. Her relationship with Elliott worked well in Holby as he was able to bring out 'the other' side of her character. She just isn't suited to A&E work and why on earth would someone at the top of their game in a specialism move to generalised medicine. OK Nick Jordan did it but it was on the basis that he knew he had an illness and couldn't continue to do the intricate surgery.

Looked at like that, I'd have to agree with you. There's not many of the doctors who care about the patients, is there?

As for Charlie's claim that 'that's never happened here' - pretty certain I remember episodes in the past where trolleys piled up in corridors.

This. I can't get into casualty most of the time because it's characterisation is so dull. Connie makes its a whole lot more lively

The character is a hypocrite. She brings her daughter into work, spends time online looking at stuff that has nothing to do with her work. When her daughter plays up or wanders off Connie isn't concentrating on patients. I think that now she has owned up to what's causing her bitchy behaviour and confided in her colleague she might mellow. Amanda Mealing is a great actress and a striking looking woman. I don't have a problem with the acting whatsoever but the character is such a cow!

I hate her. She is so mean to patients and staff. Could people really get away with treating others like she does. She is so full of hate. Why is her character popular?
She is a terrible mother, a mean person and a bully.

I can see her either being suspended or sacked and even having a full breakdown and being taken to a mental health hospital. I missed it this week but will watch on iplayer. I take it she was as bad this week? I would hate her as my boss. I agree she's a bully and I think she's bad for the hospital.

She's not really mean to her patients. She is caring to them as we have seen it in the past. She's not "full of hate" as we have seen her vulnerable side many times. Connie is quite popular because she's a complex character and many people loved her in Holby City. Amanda Mealing got lots of
praise from many people this week. She's one of the characters people either love or hate

She has a bitchy exterior but a vulnerable interior. I'm defending her becusse I understand why Connie is the way she is. Her backstory and actions have been explained In Holby City. Amanda Mealing is a fabulous actress

She wasn't bad at all this week. She's not always a bully or "bad" for the hospital. She was harsh yes but she had redeemed herself recently. She does not have a mental heath illness

You could always fast forward her scenes? Please don't let one character stop you watching the show. I'm honestly surprised people don't like her on here but she's so popular on Facebook and Twitter.

Amanda Mealing is brilliant. She's very good the way her character interacts with other characters. I love her long hair. It looked nice short but is better long. I was pleased when she returned but I have gone off the character while still loving the actress.
