NOW That's What I Call... played-out Classic Rock
TheTruth1983

Saw it on Steve Hoffman forums and thought I would bring it here.

The songs that would make up a compilation of over played classic rock.

Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Take it Easy - Eagles
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Living on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
Rock n Roll All Night - Kiss
Here I Go Again (Radio Edit) - Whitesnake
In fact let's just do away with the concept of radio edits.

Take it away

Songs that get overplayed and appear on all those 'driving' rock compilation albums type things?

Smoke on the Water.
Don't Fear the Reaper.
The Joker.
School's Out.
Wind of Change.
More Than a Feelin'
Alone
Every Rose Has It's Thorn.
Don't Stop Believing
Born To Run.

Don't think I need to list the artists for those

Bat Out of Hell and Radar Love are another two. I have yet to see a driving rock album without those two.

It is very much of it's time, isn't it?

It's a shame that it has become so synonymous with Europe because they have made some brilliant music since that.

Most rock artists have only one song of theirs that gets played on the radio, here are a few of them

Bryan Adams - Summer of 69
Queen - We Are The Champions
Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing
Eagles - Hotel California
Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall
Bon Jovi - Livin on a Prayer

I played the original to someone the other day. They said "Whats with the Hobo line". "It's drifter".

Sadly, a lot of people don't realise that both it and Crying in the Rain appeared first on Saints & Sinners (the superior versions for me). The only remember the 1987 versions of the songs.

Not forgetting the Ready and Willing version of Fool For Your Loving. So much better than the "Vai" version on Slip of The Tounge.

Don't know those two!

"Don't Stop Believing" was languishing in obscurity until Glee picked it up, something I was blissfully unaware of until my wife dragged me along to her school concert (she's a teacher, in case you were wondering...). Halfway through I suddenly realised the junior choir were singing something vaguely familiar and I couldn't for the life of me work out why they were covering a 1980s US power ballad.

My wife dragged me along to

Every Rose by Poison

I'm pretty sure you'd know them as soon as they started playing.
