Morrisons - Price wars inc alcohol
Was in Morrisons the other day and was quite surprised at some of the spirit offers they have on.
Eristoff and Smirnoff 1L for £15 Jim Beam White for £12 Jim Beam Red Stag/Honey/Maple for £15 Other 1L whisky and gin and more on offer as well. They seem to be really trying to compete with ASDA and Tesco. I'm sure they had grocery deals as well

Due to their current financial situation, Morrisons management buy spirits in extreme bulk, allowing them to sell some of it to the customers for reduced prices.

I wish them luck.
The store I go in seems well run and as the OP points out - they are trying very hard to be competitive. The cancelled order Aircraft Hanger that Tesco bought cheap is just not working IMO. And there is no way I can think of to polish that particular turd. |

It's not uncommon for ASDA and Tesco to have similar offers but Morrisons and now starting to compete. |

Surely all major supermarkets buy in bulk.

I've started shopping in Morrisons weekly. It's very good value (on par with ASDA) and the quality of other items seem higher on average.
I saw various 70cl spirits (eg. Smirnoff and Bacardi) for £12 the other day. I don't think they've been that cheap in any of the others for about 3 years. |

If you can get 1L for £15 then why buy 70cl for £12?

I'm buying it for the £6 price saving. Doesn't mean I have to drink it any faster. It'll just last longer.

Morrisons is amazing value right now. They even price match against lid and give you the difference.

Morrisons sales are dropping like a stone and they are panicking, hence the price drops. Overall food costs are down 1.6% year on year which is a record.
