BB2, over Seven Million votes.

That was some audience.

A very popular show that was full of fun plus that nugget of, Ordinary People.

BB3 I wasn't sure of at first when the Rich/Poor side was revealed. The big bars dividing the house I thought was harsh particularly with the food being luxury on one side and just awful on the other. And especially since the poor side could see the rich side eating.

Then after a couple of weeks I seen it as a great challenge. I thought the production team were outstanding. I remember them being interviewed a few times on BBLB.

And for some unknown reason C4 (Or Endemol) got rid of this production team and replaced them. All went downhill after that. BB4 was so boring IMO. And because of that we had nothing but conflict ever since. Then the viewing figures started to drop.

So how come BB don't see this?

So, in the end after all that's said and done, was BB3 really the last and there is no way of going back to that format?

Do you care or are bothered?

Mmm nostalgia, lovely thank you . Yes I am bothered. I gave up on BB after 2013's contrived mess and after this CBB I won't be watching that again either.
Blimey those figures are staggering and remind us of what BB used to be about, a very popular, unique, interesting and all encompassing, entertaining concept. Not constant fighting just for the sake of controversy, with little else besides..
I had no idea about the production team changing. The first three do stand out in my mind as the best and 4 was tedious. The Cameron Stout and Jon Tickle year, oh dear. I would have to look at some clips to remember who is who, the names mean little now.

Quote:
“Name Age on entry Hometown
Anouska Golebiewski 20 Greater Manchester
Cameron Stout 32 Stromness, Orkney
Federico Martone 23 Glasgow
Herjender "Gos" Gosal 31 London
Jonathan "Jon" Tickle 29 Staines
Justine Sellman 27 Leeds
Lisa Jeynes 35 South Wales
Annuszka "Nush" Nowak 23 Worcestershire
Ray Shah 25 Dublin
Scott Turner 27 Liverpool
Joanne "Sissy" Rooney 26 Toxteth
Stephanie "Steph" Coldicott 27 Redditch
Tânia do Nascimento 22”

I did enjoy some series after 4. I'd have to check to be precise..I would love to see them go back to the old format with proper live feed. Why don't BB themselves want viewers back?. I don't know when the viewing figures started declining. Was it a gradual process as the novelty wore off, or a result of the change of team?

BB2 wasn't filled with 'ordinary people', they were all career/fame/money seekers, some of them all three. Plus, BB3 was a VERY different show to the two normal BBs before it.

I suppose one could say that if it went to their head with being on the show.

Perhaps we should blame Craig.

Interesting post. How many votes did this year's CBB get?

As far as I'm concerned BB2 was the last proper BB - I didn't like BB3 at all, didn't like any of the characters - and without wanting to speak ill of the dead - I got sick of the edited highlights being devoted to Jade's tantrums and missed the fun and intelligent interaction of BBs 1 and 2. I didn't take to the rich/poor divide either.

I also loved Survivor and Back to Reality - but that's really it for me, I've never gotten deeply into any reality show since. The early noughties really were the best for me in terms of reality TV and talent shows. Everything has gone downhill since then.

However I think by their very nature these kind of shows are doomed to go downhill after a few years. Talent shows run out of talent, reality shows become increasingly infested with half witted attention seekers and girls whose whole aim in life is to become a glamour model. The public also are their own worst enemies, wanting more and more gimmicks which the producers provide until at last the simple original appeal is lost. I think the best thing for BB would have been a complete break for the C5 years and then returned to the original format which would have seemed like a a novelty then. And don't get me started on the livefeed. Without it the show simply isn't worthy of the name of BB.

BB gradually turned into a contrived, vulgar, unwatchable swearfest.
CBB has been equally tainted, I've only watched two in the last few years; thanks to Jim and KH.

Done a google and found a DS thread on ratings.

Ratings are not good in comparison to years ago.

Thanks for the link. They don't seem to keen to publish voting figures, do they, which makes me think they are way down on previous years when it was a decent show. I suspect they would be lucky to get a 10th of the number of votes that CBB2 got. I can't imagine that many viewers bother to vote anymore - the show is so obviously edited and contrived ...

I enjoyed BB2 and 3 most, I was too young to remember the first series that well. It was as you say, very much reality television - goldfish bowl type viewing with relatable, ordinary but no less entertaining people (IMO) to watch. BB4 was when I watched a series properly from beginning to end but that year, the casting was a disaster (Jon Tickle was the only source of entertainment) and the twists were too desperate in trying to rectify that fundamental problem. It doesn't surprise me that this when there was also a change behind the scenes. I remember BB5 coming across like an entirely different show. 'Evil Big Brother' was the tagline and I think it has been like that ever since albeit watered down following BB7. I lost interest I think during whatever series Freddie, Siavash and Marcus were on due to the rules beginning to lose all purpose and the blatant victimisation of some via the edit. The nicknames were stupid too. Regardless, I held on as a viewer until the final channel 4 series and considered myself done when UBB finished with Brian winning. I watched one episode of the revival on Channel 5 and knew it wasn't for me. Its changed beyond all recognition to something that just doesn't appeal.

BB2, over Seven Million votes - the best of the lot for me - althought I think Helen so should have won it
