Prompted some memories
The Kenny (twiddly, diddly) G bit was funny. He's not particularly well respected by jazz saxophonists.
On the subject of Otis Redding, who was mentioned.
At the height of his popularity, you could walk into a lift in a store and where the manufacturer's name "Otis" was on a metal plaque on a wall, someone would have scrawled in felt tip pen underneath, "Redding" but not necessarily spelt correctly.
Redding's big hit was "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay."
The irony is that he then fell in and drowned.
Well...not quite, his Beechcraft plane with him and his band aboard, crashed into Lake Manona. The only survivor was a non-swimmer.
