Sort of puts into perspective the dreadful people we have had in BB for a while now

Craig has always been the walking example of a person having a good heart regardless of whether you were on board with every part of his personality or not.

Donathing his £70,000 winnings to a friend who urgently needed an operation that cost money was another example.

People can say "Oh he was boring" or whatever they want but deep down probably (Because of the things he has done since winning) THE most deserving winner BB has ever had.

It seems such a long time ago but I liked Craig and I was pleased he won. He also kept his promise to give his winnings to a friend for her operation.

I've seen a lot of Craig on the TV and he comes across as a decent bloke to me. Thinking about it, he probably is the most deserving winner ever on BB. Well maybe just behind the lovely Rachel Rice.

I know, I was only 11 when Craig won BB

Yeah he is one of the very few BB Alumni I kinda of enjoy seeing on TV. Even though when his series was on he knew it would still be a TV show he never knew just how much of a beast Big Brother would become. He is one of the most likely to stay humble following his series and that's what he did.

Even when he does appear on TV its in relation to his trade before he was on BB (Builder). He is rarely on TV for the sake of being on TV which is what most BB HM's try to do these days (Steven and Kimberly being prime examples)

Rachel Rice was a really good winner. I also feel John Loughton from Celebrity Hijack was a severley under rated winner (Mainly pertaining to what he has done since leaving the show...Dare2Lead)

Although, for me, Craig passed unnoticed, until the whole Nick debacle - Big Brother could of been consigned to the dustbin of history if that whole incident didn't happen. I didn't like him during the series but it was a nice thing what he did at the end.

Didn't he go on to have a role in a property developing show? I think the only one to have transitioned to mainstream TV, albeit briefly. Genuinely lovely guy.

Craig was a genuine person and a great winner.
Aaron A-M was the most deserving winner, he practically ran the show.

Really? It was only on Day 2 of that first ever Big Brother that he was running naked around the house covered in clay, and getting shown in all his front glory too, like a few of the others with him were. All so innocent and un-selfconscious, as opposed to nowadays. The show is barely recognisable in comparison.

His mother doesn't appear to be very old to be suffering dementia. Dreadful thing for him and for anyone else, sufferer or family.

I know hes had a few programmes where he has been a permanent fixture in regards to renovation of properties and such so this is a possibiliy. Hes appeared in a few.

Yeah absolutely lovely guy.

Bless - voted for Craig as the most deserved winner of BB1 and know he did it to win the money for a family members operation (how times have changed)

Craig was a good winner, definitely a decent bloke.

It was more reality in the early days, they were less aware of the cameras and not seeking the magazine deals and spin offs.

Interestingly though his fellow housemates didn't agree, he was nominated an awful lot!

Well I totally disagree with that.

Ok they didn't know how popular it was going to be but most of the contestants were wannabes or already in media related careers.

They were certainky very aware of the cameras and played up a lot.

Naked painting walls?!

Not because he was horrible though from what I remember. Even back then they wanted to win.

That was the problem, it was only the Day 2 when all that was happening. It was hard to make any judgement on any of the characters or know who anybody was. It was only after the first week that you started to work out who was who. After the exuberances of the first couple of days, Craig was hardly seen (from what I can remember) - until the incident with Nick, which propelled him into the spotlight.

I loved that Craig won, and what he did with his prize money!

Great winner in my opinion. Things change, but I think it's a pity quite how much our winners have changed since the early days!

Anna or Mel shoulda won that year, but I can accept boring Craig winning considering (and ONLY because of) what he did with the money. I wonder how the operation went?

I'm sorry to read this. What a shame for lovely Craig's mum and Craig.
He's one of the few to make a lasting career from BB.
BB1 remains my favourite series probably because of the novelty value.. I had a look at the first ever show and I'd forgotten how they entered the house with Davina not making an appearance until the first eviction night. I loved Darren and his devotion to Marjorie the hen. I'd also forgotten the nakedness!

First BB1 show

Davina's first appearance, she looks so young.

Craig is a true gentleman. A lot of people don't know but not only giving his prize money away he has done a hell of a lot for charities as well. Sadly my father is also suffering that horrible desease, I wouldn't wish it on my worsed enemy.

Thanks anne................memories eh?

That's why she'd still shout 'I'm coming to get you' from the studio at Elstree because when it started, she did actually have to go over the bridge and into the house to get the evictee.

Makes me feel very nostalgic................and old

PS - I loved Darren too
