This is a list of their channels
Entertainment package 413 TLC 414 Discovery 415 Animal Planet 417 Comedy Central 419 SyFy 420 Universal Channel 421 E! 422 Fox 425 MTV 432 History 433 Crime & Investigation 454 Sony Entertainment 471 Investigation Discovery 513 Eurosport 1 514 Eurosport 2 Not that great, really needs to get some more. I know it is only a fiver a month, but I pay only a couple of quid more for netflix and it is better. some of the shows they got on these channels are what is shown on Pick and really, the same thing really which is almost free. I did have a think about the plusnet deal, since I now got a Tv licence, but I am really not sure if I am going to keep the licence, so not worth going for another 18 month contract and paying £5 a month, plus the £50 connection fee and then not use it. Would I give up a no subs Freeview+ PVR to pay for that? I don't think so!The channel choice is too mediocre and there's no 'must have' specials in that line up. |

If I was 100% certain that I would keep my TV licence for at least another 18 months and I did not have a Pvr then I May have gone for it. The problem is once I get back to work, I would watch even less TV than I do now and I watch very little, which is why I think it was a mistake to get a TV licence. Still at least Plusnet is not bugging me about it, not like BT does to their customers. I know a couple of households with BT and the amount of emails and letters they get trying to get them to get their TV service is beyond it to be honest. As I said this is a soft launch, thinks may heat up once it is launched proper. |

YOUVIEW on Plusnet
Hi
Can anyone help this 74 year old numpty please. I have a YouView box connected to PlusNet Unlimited Fibre . Up to now I have watched TV and recorded a few programmes. What else can I watch or do please. At the moment I use a PlusNet router etc. and have a BT vision box and a home hub 2.0 stuck in a cupboard. I was half hoping to connect the TV to the internet etc. without spending much, if any. Many thanks |

Plusnet TV seems to have disappeared from its website.

As of tomorrow, Plusnet are starting to take orders for BT Sport with their TV service, which they had previously only offered via Sky's platform.
BT Sport 1 will be free for all Plus TV users, while the rest of the channels, including the new Extra ones, are available in SD for an extra £5 a month. HD can be obtained for £4, though presumably, like BT, if you're paying for a hi-def add on anyway the sports will be included in that. This was bound to happen, for obvious reasons. Plus TV looks rather a more tantalising prospect all of a sudden, although I'm happy enough with their parents

All of these channels on BT Sport can be viewed in HD (with the exception of BT Sport Extra) if the YouView HD pack is purchased too for £3 a month.

I now have this. The deal was £50 + £5pm for 18 months = £140, but to buy a decent Freeview/Youview recorder box is about that much anyway, so I looked at it as I'm getting those channels free for 18 months. And coming from Sky keeping a few of the pay channels isn't so bad; I do watch Eurosport, Discovery, SyFy and FOX on occasions.
In reality they've given me the TV+broadband+phone for the same price I was paying for broadband+phone, and waived the £50 as I agreed to 24 months. So really it's all free, except the £3pm extra I'm paying for HD.

i did have a look at it, but I am over halfway through my contract with them and to be honest, I am not sure if I want to sign up for another 18 months never mind 24.
While the amount of channels have improved, with ~Nat geo being one that I was interested in, looking at nat geo now it seems to be going downhill and I have heard that Murdoch and co now owns Nat geo, so it will go downhill even faster. I have to decide what to do at some point I suppose, Get rid of my licence again and not bother with TV, or Keep the Tv licence and just carry on with the PVRs I have got, the HD one is I think on it's last legs. Or think about spending money out on another PVR, maybe a freeview play one, or stay with plusnet and get a YouView box. The problem is, I am not that impressed with You view, it seems very out of date on some things. |

A few things about the interface are a bit clunky, and switching channels is still slower than Sky, but otherwise I've no complaints. The thing that prompted me to get rid of Sky was realising I spend far more time watching Netlfix, so perhaps this is a waste of money too. But then I can't imagine going back to not being able to pause live TV or record things so I had to do something to get some kind of recorder. BTW for bitrate junkies the SD channels are at a constant 2.6Mb/s (H264 presumably) and the HD channels 8Mb/s, which isn't bad at all. |

The lack of padding is a mistake for a start, We all know how the scheduals are for channels and they are are almost never on time, so to be able to add a few minutes onto the start and end of the recording is needed. As you said yourself the UI is a bit clunky. I also think will I make a lot of use out of it to spend to make it worth spending the money on. |
