Buying iphone from Apple Store, do they give you a proper receipt?

Was going to buy an iPhone off someone on gumtree, they sound legit but when I asked if he had the receipt he said he only got an email receipt and could show me that? I'd have thought they would give you a physical paper receipt in your hand no? Although he said he got it launch day so could he have pre ordered it and just gone into the store and pick it up? Hence no receipt?

They give you a choice. Email or paper. Better for the environment to have email receipts.

They try to only ever give out paper versions if you really really want it. On launch day usually it's Email only.

The email receipt is a proper receipt, it just needs printing if you want a paper copy.

Here's an example, you get exactly the same for an iPhone.
