I can't see if its better than the app or not as I am not an O2 customer, but still pretty interesting! Say what you want about O2 as a network but they are going in the right direction with certain things.

I wonder if there are any planes for Three to do this with their inTouch app?

I would say it's the wrong direction completely.
The apps are clunky and hit and miss.
Native WC is the way to go... obviously.
Just imagine if we actually had it though!!!
Haha

I agree it is the wrong way to go for phones. But for tablets / laptops / PC's that you have? I think its pretty amazing. Perhaps the best solution would be WiFi Calling / Texts on the phone then some kind of setup like OSX and iOS have where you can do calls and texts on another device apart from your phone.

Yes I suppose that is a personal preference thing.
I can't see myself ever wanting to call someone on my PC.
I'm sure many would like to though.

A bunch of guys and vans up at the mast this morning.

What If your phone battery dies? You lose your phone? You have two phones and want to take just one with you?

OK, the above don't apply to everyone, but I'm all for detaching my service from a single device. I want to be able to use my phone service on any device just by logging in. I do it with my home phone (VoIP) so why not my mobile?

Also the Apple way is very inelegant. The phone has to be on and connected to the internet. There will be situations where phone service is impossible but you can use another connection. Not everywhere has phone service or WiFi you can use for free. Traveling would be far better with a similar service to o2.
