Anyone had trouble with the Play Store on their Android tablet?
I have a Sony S tablet and up to about ten days ago everything seemed to be ok, then, although the Play Store's homepage displayed ok when I click on an app to view the details the store gives the above error message and shuts down.
I've tried a search obviously and there's loads of hits on this which more or less say the same things.
Clear the cache and data from the store's settings
Ensure the Download Manager is enabled
Remove updates from the store
Uninstall the Play Store app.
The last item brings up a message to say the store will be replaced by the Factory version which does allow me to view and download an app. But I have to be quick about it because in spite of having the store settings not to update without informing me first just goes ahead and does it anyway and then of course I'm back where I started.
Eventually I did the last thing that was mentioned and did a hard reset, which achieved nothing because the store updated to version 5.2.13 which I'm having all the trouble with.
There was a Play Store update about 12 days ago which seems a bit suspicious but there have been many instances of this problem occurring – and not just on my rather old tablet but other tablets and phones as well.
I had another look this morning in case my tablet had had second thoughts overnight and had decided to cooperate with me - but it hadn't, although I did find that I was able to download a free Brit award track and play it and also read a free book . Neither of which may be relevant but it makes me think there can't be all that much wrong with my tablet.
I'm hoping this post will get some helpful ideas on fixing this problem
Thanks.
