According to this: http://eastenders.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:11616, the BBC are going to scrap the EE omnibus after April, due to low ratings.

That is sad! What are people going to do if they haven't got internet access and miss an episode during the week? It's going to upset and anger some people, I can see that.

What do other people think about this?

It's put on so late! I know loads of people who used to watch it on a Sunday afternoon. I don't know why it was changed. If I miss an episode I'll watch the omnibus. I think it's a shame it's being scrapped altogether.

No wonder its ratings are low... its on at such a silly time.
I used to watch the omnibus on a sunday, and still would if it was shown at a decent time.

They will just need to get a FreeView Plus box or similar.

It's not sad.

There's really no need for an omnibus In this day and age. you can almost always catch up in some way but if you miss an episode and can't catch up online then tough. Life goes on.

Exactly. Who is going to stay up at 2 in the morning to watch it? It seems like the ratings is just an excuse to get rid of it. I personally watch the single episodes, rather than the omnibus. However, there will still people who prefer watching the omnibus.

I used to watch the Sunday omnibus as it meant I could do stuff during the week or watch something else. Now if I miss an episode I just don't bother watching it.

Isn't BBC3 being scrapped too? Will there only be the first episodes of EE from now on? My landlord is a bit slow with things like Freeview Plus. We don't get all the channels yet!

I don't get the problem. You can watch any episode of Eastenders broadcast in the last 30 days whenever you want.

I thought it had already been axed. Had a look for it the Sunday afternoon before the 30th Anniversary to catch up and couldn't see it. It's a shame, the omnibus was handy even with iPlayer.

At leastyou still get the eps during the week

Unlike us Brookside fans at the end, who had to stay up until after Midnight on a Wednesday Morning to watch new eps

I'm sure you can come up with a way to time shift tv shows that cost very little... You must be watching digitally cos there is no other way, so that's step one

not everyone has something that records, if you are using a basic tv or set top box they don't record.

I guess with the advent of Sky Plus and the iplayer the BBC consider the omnibus to be something of an expensive luxury. Honestly the writing was on the wall when they moved it to such a late night slot during the Olympics and then left it there afterwards without any real explanation. It's so much easier to cancel it now because the ratings are low than it was before. I don't see the harm in it though. It lets people cafch up and can't be costly for the BBC, the programming is already made, what's the harm in filling some time with the repeat of it?

Wont the loss of the BbC3 repeat airing, be more harmful than loosing the Ominibus.

I dont watch EE Regliosly but when I do its normally when I notice it up on BBC3

I don't think there is a real need for the omnibus nowadays. There will be a few that don't have broadband, or Sky+ but tough sadly. Get with the new age.

There's no need for the Omnibus anymore. They'll be replacing BBC 3 repeats with BBC One +1 and BBC iPlayer is so widely available that the omnibus is redundant - you can get it on your laptop, phone, tablet, TV, game consoles and who knows what else.

I have the soaps I watch set to "series record" just in case I'm not able to watch episodes live - which is often due to the time I get home from work, make tea etc.

I don't understand the reason for it though - is it because the cast get paid extra for it so they can cut costs?

Its not like they are putting anything on a Sunday to replace it.

I'm old school. I used to miss an episode I would watch it on Sunday. Now when I miss an episode I just miss it. I have access to iplayer but can't be bothered.

Not everyone can record EE when it's first on, as they have another programme being recorded at the same time. Sure, you could go ahead and record EE, but all that would do is create a small problem.

With a Sky Plus box you can record two programmes at once, but you'd have to keep one of the channels on, and not switch over until one of the shows has finished being recorded.

What would be the point in that? You may as well just watch one of the shows 'live' as it first goes out.

I watch all of my EE on the iPlayer, a few hours after each episode has first aired, so I don't have any problems. My parents can record what they want and it doesn't affect me!
