Well I figured I might as well start one. One of the most underrated and overlooked artists of all time IMO. I wrote about her here http://t.co/xxJIlCcvrO

She is and her death was just tragic.

So what's the main idea with the Amy Thread?

Ah, Amy, so sublime and talented. A true one off.

I saw her live a couple of times before she hit the big time. First time was in 2004 at the Cockpit in Leeds when she was touring Frank. I remember watching her, curvy, beautiful, funny and in a skin tight orange Lycra dress, thinking she was amazing and would be huge one day.

Second time was a couple of weeks before she released Rehab, at a tiny jazz club in Leeds. Couldn't have been more than 250 people there. My lovely boyfriend bought me the tickets to cheer me up when I had flu.

And then she released Rehab and we all know the story after that.

Here's a reminder of why she was so damn good.

I'm probably in a minority, but I preferred Frank ever so slightly to Back To Black. Don't get me wrong BTB was exquisite, but Frank was just such a warm and fuzzy listen, if that makes sense. Very good storytelling in the lyrics with plenty of humour in Stronger Than Me and F*** Me Pumps. The guitar riff in October Song gets me every time, so bloody perfect.
