I got a sad e-mail through from my dad tonight, about the death of one of my childhood dogs, Fugly.

I'm devastated he is the first of 3 my childhood dogs to pass away. I keep crying, even on the bus I started crying.

I wasn't able to say goodbye and hadn't seen him since last July when I looked after the dogs whilst my dad went on holiday.

I'm posting this on here, as I have quit Facebook and so can't get any sympathy from people on there...

I loved him so much. RIP Fugly <3

How long does it take to get over loosing a pet? I've only ever lost hamsters/fish/stick insects before. Nothing like losing mans best friend.

Oh yea I forget there's a pet forum. My bad.

He was a grumpy old man duffsdad! So so grumpy, it was funny. We rescued him so were never sure on his age to start with, but think he was about 17 years old!

So sorry to hear this, BB, you have all my sympathy.

R.I.P. Fugly.

I know exactly how horrible this is, I was devastated when my boy died, many years ago now. I was so bad that my Dad was going to call the doctor in to sedate me, he didn't know what to do with me. I slept on the floor, not eating or washing, for a week.

But, like everyone says, it does get slowly better and you WILL remember the happy memories and times you shared.

Cry for him, it's normal.

I'm so sorry BB

I lost my cat in November and I'm still sad. She was a big part of our family. I missed a days work and the following day I broke down and cried at work. My daughter and I are just now talking about getting a new one. I think she is more ready than me. We all have our grieving time,it's different for all.

I'm sorry for your loss. RIP Fugly

God it's been such a bad day...today sucks

BTW...I was sad and shocked when I saw you had quit FB! Miss having you on there

My oldest dog's nearly 17 too and he's like a wee old man too. Lies on the couch, grumbling away to himself about everything and anything. The rain, his dinner, his pillow. He cant hear very well and has cataracts so walks into stuff if you move it...cue more grumbling. He'd be better off down the bowing club with the rest

Sorry to read about your cat Wolfie. I think it's a good idea to get a new pet when you are ready. The happiness they bring outweighs the sadness of loosing them by 100/1. You have a pup too right?

Yea I always quit FB if I start to feel I becoming a bit unwell, otherwise I just get myself into trouble. I'll be back on one day

He sounds like a right proper fellow! You have a photo? Him and Fugly would have got on by the sounds of it, like the 2 old men from the muppets!

So sorry to hear you have lost your much loved dog Fugly BB.
Cry as much, and as long, as you want too.
It is so so sad when they go, I cried for 2 weeks when my previous cat died.

RIP Fugly

I have my baby (Chihuahua called Minnie) in the vets at the moment, she's really poorly and been in there just over a week, I've hardly slept or ate, I'm just sitting by the phone hoping I'm going to get some good news.

Sorry to hear about the death of your childhood pet Fugly great picture he looks a real character.

I lost my dog about 2 years ago and i still remember him to this day with a smile on my face,it can take quite a while to get over the death of a dog if you were close to it.

And then I'm just gonna have to leave it because everytime I come into this thread I start welling up again! I might just have to sleep it off rather than talk more about it. I've asked for it to go to the pet forums.

Photos of your pets are more than welcome though.
