I lost my cat in November and I'm still sad. She was a big part of our family. I missed a days work and the following day I broke down and cried at work. I'm sorry for your loss. RIP Fugly

God it's been such a bad day...today sucks

BTW...I was sad and shocked when I saw you had quit FB! Miss having you on there ”

My cat died at the beginning of December, it's really horrible isn't it? I cried myself to sleep a couple of nights ago thinking about her - I'd seen an article about a terminally ill dog seeing the sea for the first (and last) time, and I got really emotional and started thinking about my cat, and about how long my 13 year old dog might have left. Pets are the best thing in the world but it doesn't half break your heart when you lose them.

I'm so sorry for your loss. They really are a part of the family. My husband and I were talking about our cat a few weeks ago and I started crying. It has become easier but the pain is still there. My daughter has a tribute to the cat in her bedroom. I gotten her a tote bag with a picture of her and the cat on it. She has it hanging on the wall, with the cat's food bowel and her toy laying under it lol. Not sure how long she plans on keeping it there, but if it helps I'm all for it.

I read an article, not too long ago, about a lost dog,who found his way home. He was four States away and it took him about a year, but he did it. Totally made me cry lol. Pets really are the best

It is always sad to lose a pet. I found it very sad losing my rabbits. May Fugly rest in peace.

I'm actually a bit worried about how our other Jack Russell, Frankie is going to be.

You hear of budgies losing their mate and dying of a broken heart. Although Frankie is about 3 years younger and much fitter. Plus I don't think they really ever liked each other anyway lol.

But it must be confusing for them?

My dog loved our cat so much. More than the cat loved him,no doubt She did grow to love the dog,in her own way.

My daughter and I sat with her when her final moments came, but the dog was still sleeping. It was very early in the morning. When my husband took her body to the vet,I suggested that he show the body to the dog,but he thought it was best not too. Can't remember his reasoning for it,but whatever.
It took the dog a day or so to noticed, being that the cat had been staying in my daughter's room the last week or two,she was having trouble getting around. Nonetheless he did take notice and started looking for her. That was the most heartbreaking thing to watch. He was all over the house looking and smelling for her. Eventually he gave up,laid down and cried. He knew on some level she was gone.

Aw that's so sweet and sad. Reading that made me realise just how close your daughter and cat were to each other too. You had the cat before the pup yea?

Our vet has said when the time comes to take the other one with us to the vets. Apparently if they sniff them after they've passed, they kind of understand.

My daughter grew up with the cat, they were sisters,as my daughter will proudly tell you

We had the cat probably five years prior to the dog. She was not happy about the dog at all. So mad at me and my husband She didn't acknowledge the dog existence the first couple of years The funny thing is,when we moved house, she warmed up to him. I guess she must have thought, well they brought the dog along guess I have no choice but to except him They became close, even snuggling as the napped together

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought this was somehow related to L.N.

Aw, so sorry BB. Losing a much-loved dog is the pits, even if you haven't seen him in a bit. They leave their paw print stamps on your heart and you will wear them forever but the pain does ease as the fonder memories take up the bigger space there. He looks like he was a grand little man and seemingly had a great life. 17-ish is a corking age for a dog which suggests that, despite his grumpy exterior, he was a content boy.
Let the tears flow for now but as Radiomaniac says, raise a glass to him and his long life.

Sorry to hear that. Those who don't have pets might not understand how hard it can be when a pet - a member of your family - dies. It can be heart-breaking.
I was devastated when my dog died.
It was years ago now but when I see videos and pictures of her I still get a lump in my throat.

Thank you for kind words yesterday people. Feel a lot better today about it. Still sad but happy memories and my dad e-mailed me lots of funny photos of him.

Peace.

I'm really sorry for your loss
I had my dog put to sleep 3 weeks ago because I thought it was best for him, but it hurts so much even now...I keep having deep regrets about doing so.
I hope you remember all the good times you had with your dog.
