What do you think? Do you think Leona has the potential to have a big comeback this year?

What we know, she finally left Syco and signed to Universal's Island Records and spent around a year recording this album. She has worked majorly with Diane Warren and Toby Gad (If I Were A Boy, All of Me, Don't Hold Your Breath and many more).

She uploaded a live snippet of the lead single Fire Under My Feet last year, listen here,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1FeLzswusA

And recently uploaded some more footage of her in the studio,

I really do believe she is in with a shot, the single is apparently premiering within the next two weeks and I personally think that snippet sounds extremely promising.

I hope so. The snippet sounds amazing and as long as she gets radio support (which I think she will as they played One More Sleep) then she could make a great comeback. She needs all the promotion she can get.

Rumor is that her album is out in July, so excited tbh, hopefully it'll be a massive hit.

So hyped for new music but the only thing I'm worried about is her voice. Watch any live performance of hers from the last 2 years and compare it to 8 years ago and it's clear the strength of her vocal has deteriorated. It happened somewhere between Echo and Glassheart and I genuinely beleive Ryan Tedder pushed her too hard during their sessions and she's suffered lasting damage

This isn't confirmed, but someone on another forum who has been reliable in the past said there is a showcase on March 10th and that Island really believe in her and have huge plans for her, which include a global release, so heres hoping they are correct. It really does looks like Island Records believe in her, the label head flew out to LA last week to watch Leona film a video.

I am just so relieved she is with a proper label now, if you look at Island Record's UK roster, its pretty impressive,

Ben Howard, Disclosure, Drake, Florence + the Machine, Jessie J, James Morrison, Jessie Ware, John Newman, Ariana, Nicki Minaj, Passenger, Robyn, Robbie Williams, Rizzle Kicks, The Weekend, U2 and more.

Yeah she is up and down with her voice at the minute, but lets hope she has been working hard training and maintaining it over the last year or so. But to be fair, when she is on point vocally she has still been delivering amazing vocals imo. Here is Bleeding Love last year, as strong as ever imo and she even takes it up a notch at the very end.

And here are a few other great performances form last year too imo,

Say Something
Joseph Calleja & Leona Lewis-The Prayer

I believe this album will be Leona's best. She is in a good place now, away from manipulative Syco. The snippet of FUMF sounds so good.

The potential is 100% there. Just depends on material and backing/ marketing.

By the looks of it she has the backing from Universal, as for the material we shall see. I hope she smashes it though!

I loved that video she posted a while back where she was jamming in the studio. She seemed so happy and content with where she was now at with her career.

Well I was already a Leona fan but I can't stop singing that snippet I heard. It's very catchy... Also her voice sounds great in the snippet. What I am most concerned about is radio support...

Radio 1 don't seem to want to support her anymore, either because she's over 30 or she's not cool or whatever...

Capital might play her singles though but I think she would need Radio 1s support too.

Ella's album has been out a while now and subsequent singles aren't doing that well I believe, plus she probably won't have any new material until X Factor starts again.

In my opinion Leona's main competiton is Adele, Emeli, Paloma and Ella, but none of them appear to be releasing anything new anytime soon. Leona is launching music in the next few weeks, so its prime time for Leona to release, as its a relatively quiet period.
