You'll need an all in one remote (URC-7781) to perform the hack, I don't think there's a way to do it via the players remote.

If you go ahead you need to follow the instructions below.....

1. Hold the Magic Key down for 3 Seconds
2. Select "Initial Setup" - Press Enter
3. Select "Device" - Press Enter
4. Select "Add Device" - Press Enter
5. Choose DVD from the list of choices - Press Enter
6. Select "Code Setup" - Press Enter
7. Enter Code 0533 - Press Enter
8. Press Esc until you get back to the Main Menu

9. Hold the Magic Key down for 3 Seconds
10. Cursor Right and select "Advanced Setup" - Press Enter
11. Select "Function" - Press Enter
12. Select "Add Function" - Press Enter
13. Cursor Right and select "Add Key Magic" - Press Enter
14. Cursor Right and select the newly added DVD Device

15. Press The Magic Button (Do not hold)
16. Enter the code 00189 (Once entered "KM Source" changes to "KM Destination" on the remote control display)
17. Press 1 to store this code against button 1

18. Press The Magic Button (Do not hold)
19. Enter the code 00255 (Once entered "KM Source" changes to "KM Destination" on the remote control display)
20. Press 2 to store this code against button 2

21. Press The Magic Button (Do not hold)
22. Enter the code 00095 (Once entered "KM Source" changes to "KM Destination" on the remote control display)
23. Press 3 to store this code against button 3

24. Press The Magic Button (Do not hold)
25. Enter the code 00221 (Once entered "KM Source" changes to "KM Destination" on the remote control display)
26. Press 4 to store this code against button 4

27. Press The Magic Button (Do not hold)
28. Enter the code 00079 (Once entered "KM Source" changes to "KM Destination" on the remote control display)
29. Press 5 to store this code against button 5

30. Press Esc until you get back to the Main Menu

The instructions refer to that particular model, so I would say yes, it needs to be that remote, or...

There are instructions for the URC 7740 which works for other models, but results are untested on your particular player.

If you want to try it.....

1.Select DVD device on remote
2.Hold Magic button until DVD button flashes twice
3.Press 0, 5, 3 and 3
4.Put a disc in player and put player onto welcome screen
5.Hold Magic button down until DVD button on remote flashes twice
6.Press 9, 9 and 4
7.Press Magic button
8.Press 1, 8, 9 and 1
9.Repeat steps 2 to 4, then press 2, 5, 5 and 2
10.Repeat steps 2 to 4, then press 0, 9, 5 and 3
11.Repeat steps 2 to 4, then press 2, 2, 1 and 4
12.Repeat steps 2 to 4, then press 0, 7, 9 and 5

Once your remote control is programmed
---------------------------------------

1. Make sure the DVD player has no disc in it and is powered off
2. Press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on the OneForAll remote control. After a few seconds the DVD player will automatically turn on
3. Wait for the "No Disc" message
4. Press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on the OneForAll remote control. After a few seconds the DVD player will automatically turn off
5. The DVD Player is now Multi-region
