That's good, did anyone listen to the Radio Leeds version last night to confirm if the Leeds Utd game was on.

Cheers for that. We'll have to wait and see which commentaries they broadcast on Saturday afternoons when many stations split between FM/AM/DAB

Did anyone find out which version of each local station is actually on Freeview?

See http://www.bbc.co.uk/reception/news/item47 for the bbc rollout and intent
The easy bit is having the feeds at code and mux which is because this is the transmitter portal ....

When will my Local Radio station appear on Freeview?

We plan to launch more Local Radio stations on Freeview over the course of 2015, however we have to complete more technical work before this is possible. We thought it better to launch the stations we’re able to now rather than waiting until other stations are available. We’ll publish more information about which Local Radio stations will be available in each BBC TV region later in the year.

With the Local TV services coming from in essence BBC money and in certain areas - mine: Blackpool & Preston - there is no service could the BBC utilise the local TV transmitter network for the moment or not for BBC Local Radio services temporarily?

What needs to be done is to add more audio coders to each of the code and mux coder banks for each of the 20 or so english regions...

Not a vast ammont of work but not trivial either forATOS to do and operate
Then connect to the LR portal forthe input and then get the LCNs from Digital UK and
carriage And monitoring from ARQIVA ...
All of which does cost money
And may be in the future similar for DSAT .... But there may be rights issue and /or regionalisation cost which make that un economic. ....

But this is at TV region level ....
If you wanted to make each main transmitter carry different local radio
then as there are 40 LR stations the a lot of video codecs and connectivity etc would be needed...

I think that money would be better spent on bbc one HD regions

Not sure if this is relevant but it may give a clue or maybe not.

BBC Radio Berkshire is now in Stereo online. Not sure if this will be the next station to appear on Freeview or even if there is a direct link between stereo online and Freeview.

If anyone else finds any new stations appearing please let us know.

Thanks

The link is that all LR output is now routed to a portal at the tv coding and mux centres where the signals are picked up (with the TV mux feeds) by Arqiva to send over BT MPLS to the transmitters....

Because the signals are there they can be fed to the TV code and mux, the audio factory for streaming etc etc....

Previously the LR fed the transmitter directly and how signals got to streaming were various and precarious, .....

It went live 6 days ago - see post #22 of this thread.

Odd that BBC WM is on the Wrekin when it should be Radio Shropshire.

Anyone within the south region please keep an eye out - not sure which region Berkshire belongs to - maybe Thames Valley so Oxford transmitter?

Any news please let us know. Thanks

Hannington is in the same BBC SIPSI group as Rowridge, so it's carrying Solent at present

If Hannington does ever carry Berks, then it will have to be on Rowridge and Midhurst too.

Oxford is its own SIPSI region, and could very neatly carry BBC Radio Oxford. It would also need to carry BBC Wilts (for Swindon) and 3CR (for NW Bucks)

The Radio Leeds channel has the FM version, or at least they did during Saturday's football split when the FM/Leeds Utd commentary was on Freeview.

Yes, but there's no Shropshire TV news, so it's correct that we get Midlands Today/Central News because that's the closest.

However, when it comes to local radio, we get BBC Radio Shropshire rather than BBC WM. (You can pick up the latter in the east of the county, but it's not our local radio station.)

Paul .... In the future you will get BBC Radio Shropshire on DTT. If the BBc continue the roll out ... Along with 5 other BBC LR stations ... WM, C&W ,H&W , Stoke and I think Gloucester.

But it will take time and most importantly money ......
The initial roll out is cheap to do due to existing equipment being there ...

Talked to a friend in Oxford last night and he had just done a retune and there is no sign of BBC Radio Oxford yet. Is this the only English SIPSI region left without a local BBC Radio station added now?

Why is Sudbury transmitter got BBC Norfolk and BBC Cambridgeshire radio stations because the area where it lies is BBC radio Suffolk and BBC radio Essex. Is it me or is that a mistake can't see why we can't have them.

Not yet ... As the BBC have said ,,,,,
In simple terms the existing C&M has an spare audio encoder may be two per tv region
And with the LR portal for the transmitter feeds it's easy to add one LR per set of C&M kit...
Any more is adding/reconfiguration which is not so cheap ....

If you take the trouble to read the entire thread, you'll find the answer to that question
