Sony 40" plasma pink picture on stRt up
Hi, my mums Sony 40" smart TV. Starts of very pink, then has a few lines, but gets better after 30 mins
Could this be leaking capacitors, or does anyone know which board I need to Replace, can't be the buffers I'm going over at the weekend , would like to have the right board to replace Thanks |

A search points to a HDMI handshake issue - have you tried switching it off then on again?
If this does not cure the problem then it could be something more serious. Best guy to help is Nigel.... |

What the rest of us do is put the picture on to a photo hosting service (photbucket, flickr etc LINK) and then post a link to the picture by using the earth/paperclip symbol from the tool bar directly above the message text. The text to link comes from the hosting website. For my picture as an example the text is: http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...ontrollers.jpg |

Sounds more like an internal fault, especially if it clears in 30mins and leaves a pink line.
Nigel will be able to confirm the fault..... |

Thanks Nigel, it's an LCD screen only 3 years old, but some of Sonys LCDs have lasted a lot less recently.

![]() LCD's don't suffer from the same colour ageing problems as Plasma, but still the majority of the small number of Sony TV failures are the LCD panel. |

After 30 mins the TV goes from a distorted pink and green mess to a 99% perfect picture with a pink line at the top, it just clicks back to almost normal.

Hi Nigel thanks for your help, its a KDL40SX523....... after a quick look I am not convinced its the Tcon board, on this model they are replaceable and on ebay for £30
The TV picture has a masive green tint apart from the top inch, which is fine, I don't see how the T-con panel can cause that, but I am no expert, the screen is suffering from massive screen burn delay, up to a minute to clear any bright image. When i change the screen to a 4;3 image after the screen burn dissapates the black is pure black as it should be, if the panel had failed would this still be the case ? wouldnt lines and tint still be on the panel, The TV usually clicks back into a perfect picture after 30 mins, but after moving it to my workshop after an hour it has not done this, again Nigel, thanks for your help, this TV was bought by my late father and My mum wants it working as she would hate to "throw his TV away" I will order a new T-con board and replace, I will check all ribbons, after that I will be lost so any expert help is so welcome, I would even replace the LCD panel if they were readily available. |

There's also three different LCD panels fitted in that model, with three entirely different T-Con boards, S-LCD, CMO, and AUO - the CMO T-Con board was never available. Quote:

Here's what a Sony technical bulletin says about T-Con boards. Quote:
Replacing the T-Con board may solve any of the following issues.
1. No display 2. Colour failure 3. Gray Scale Pattern failure 4. Whitish picture 5. Vertical lines 6. Various * 6-1. Pixelation * 6-2. Ghost effect * 6-3. Horizontal blocks |

KDL40CX523. Assuming you can get one off Ebay, then it must be for the correct panel. |

Well the T con board is connected to the panel, I have them off here, it's all one unit, the one off eBay is not for this, this is a one inch strip by 18 inches with the two ribbons going to the screen and the main feed going to the video board,
this TV is not going to work again without a replacement LCD panel with inter grated t con board, and my chances of getting one of those is very slim unless anyone knows of who has them |
