Emily Saunders
Only parts of tracks, uploaded from her CD, (by herself) .
A distinctive style, a mixture of improvised scat singing and vocals. Great range. Writes her own stuff. It ain't Madonna, but it makes a change. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1b_KmGSVKQQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32TLEHogzj8 |

Not personally a scat fan but I can see why you like her.

There's a lot of good jazz singers, particularly in the USA, to whom I find it worth listening and some I post about on here. A lot of these singers appear in clubs and some don't help themselves with the videos uploaded by themselves or people who like them. Quite often at a club appearance, the video will begin with the artist addressing the patrons with a load of rabbit. When they finally get round to actually singin', the pianist accompanying them, "goes off on one," (after all it's about the only opportunity he's gonna get to be noticed, once the singer starts belting it out, so the intro might seem to be about half as long as the song) by which time even I start to lose interest. So I won't post any like that. |
