I thought with Billy being a pastor there would be some controversy since he was gay, but everyone seems to be ok with him. I assumed that there would be a lot of divided opinions with having an openly gay pastor, maybe even a group trying to get Billy fired but none of this is happening. It seems like it was real pointless to go make him a pastor when the show isn't even dealing with issues a pastor would face in this situation.

So when he leaves Sean can grimace and wail "Pastor La Vista baby..."

I'm so sorry, I couldn't resist.

Yeah i thought there would be a big conflict because he wouldn't be allowed to date, a bit like Syed and his religion issues in EE.
But Billy is out and proud and seems fine dating. The only issue is how someone as lovely and handsome as him is interested in that wet lettuce leaf Sean. I'd like to see Billy and Todd together.

I think you'll find he still has Sean under wraps as far as his religion is concerned.

Maybe it's going to be a slow burner, just like the bonfire I'd like to put Sean on top of.

Didn't Anthony Cotton say that Sean has a surprising storyline this year? One that's never been done on a soap before? I'm still waiting.... and half hoping it involves him and a fatal accident, though I'm not holding my breath.

Indeed. I think they underestimated how much people would care. Most people have become accustom to shutting down whenever Antony Cotton appears on screen, hence the lack of reaction.

Something unsettling about that fella. He has the insincere smile of a serial killer.

They needed to pastorise Sean before he went off any more

I was hoping SB would axe the atrocious Sean/Antony Cotton not give him a storyline. What he has on TPTB must be explosive.

I thought it was sheerly for the so-called 'comedy value'.

I think the storyline comes into friction soon, as Emily gets a bit funny and Sean brands her a homophobe.

Yeah, but Sean jumps to the wrong conclusion, Emily's problem has nothing to do with Billy's sexuality. I think this story would have worked better on Emmerdale , Edna would have a fit if the church got a gay pastor.

So typically Sean is going to let his mouth run away with him. Yay, can't wait.

In a way I suppose it is different to introduce a gay Pastor and NOT have people up in arms about it. That's the sort of ground-breaking story I'd like to see. Preferably not with Sean as Antony Cotton can't act and the character is so horrendous I wish him nothing but misery but it does make a nice change to have total acceptance.

Famous last words ...

It's so unrealistic though. I'm assuming this church is not an independent church and is part of one the major Christian denominations and I don't think any denomination allows gay pastors and even if they did there would definitely be an uproar by several member of the congregation. One of my former pastors did a sermon on how he didn't think homosexuality was a sin and there were people upset with that. A story about an openly gay pastor being accepted by everyone is about as realistic as aliens invading Weatherfield.
