Hi, please can anyone recommend a heat defence spray to use before styling hair to stop breakage?

I was recommended this by a friend... I love it and wouldn't use anything else now.

Smells amazing too. It says to spray onto hair, but I spray onto my hands now to get a more even coverage, without it being greasy.

I would also give this a go. I love the smell and if you read the reviews lots of other people love it as much as me.

I tried the one as suggested by sixtynine. It works well but I don't use it often enough to need to but any.

I found TRESemme's one to be very good whenever I've needed it, but my hairdresser told me that if you're using straighteners daily you should use a mask once a week. I've used Aussie 3 minute miracle which works amazingly & it smells great.

This is cheap and cheerful. Used it on holiday and it seemed to do the trick protecting against sun and sea.

This is the best one I've found:

And it's very often on 3-4-2. The brand in the white bottle is awful though.

I use Kerastase Nectar Thermique. Not a spray but a cream but it's light and effective. Because heat sucks moisture out of the hair I need something to strengthen the hair against the heat but also keeps the moisture in which this product does.

Yes your hairdresser is right that much heat means regularly hair maintenance or you'll have split ends. I cringe at the thought of daily heat, I would have to trim my hair monthly to have healthy, full ends.

I will be using it tomorrow so will see how it is then,mI don't use heat on my hair every day except I had been using the straighteners on my fringe a lot and my hair there has broken so I think I need to be more careful At least it won't take long to grow back!

Will get the Aussie mask as well.

I like the Lee Stafford products, they have a nice smell. Have got a Keratase one but find it a bit sticky. I use L'oreal Smooth intense serum after styling which I love.

Mine is not a heat defence spray - it is a leave in treatment - Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan Oil - I apply a few drops on my palms and gently rub into the ends and halfway up my hair shaft before blow drying and using a styling iron. This is sufficient to protect my hair and I do not have any split ends or breakage.

Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer is AMAZING - not cheap but the best thing I have ever used on my long, thick, wavy hair that needs a lot of heat styling to look decent!

It's got heat and UV protection, but also has lightweight oils to help moisturise, plus it actually (weirdly) helps my blow dry last a day longer! So less washing. It's incredible and I've stockpiled it! The hair oil from the same range is also v good.
