I primarily bought my Apple TV to stream my iTunes library to the Apple TV from my Macbook Pro as it is connected to my audio setup. Recently, it has been dropping out regularly. The only solution is to flick the Macbook screen back to iTunes and it kicks it back in. Surely though I should be able to use the Macbook to do other stuff whilst it is streaming?! To reiterate, I am only using Airplay to do this as opposed to Mirroring.

I have a late 2012 Macbook Pro 13" with a 3rd generation Apple TV.

Also, I have read that Airplay is quite unreliable so are there any other alternatives to stream audio from my Macbook to the Apple TV?
