Looking at this phone for other half,on £21 a month + £49 upfront cost then buying addons for extra data and calls for abroad, would also like to tether ipad from it when abroad. She doesnt use it for calling much mainly texts and photos ,photo message isnt included I dont imagine.Anyone got any pros or cons,we wanted 3 because we go to France and Holland 3 or 4 times ayear but currently with Orange and costs are low but wifes phone,a Samsung mini 4 is playing up,alternative is to buy a phone and stick with Orange to not lose magic numbers and pay for use abroad, but sadly we 2 are the only ones in our family on Orange ,others are on 3 or O2 so magic number is not so beneficial as it used to be for us.

Not sure 3 allow tethering abroad. They deffo don't on feel at home in France, but Holland's not feel at home, last time I was abroad on Feel at home I did do a bit of cheeky tethering and got away with it though, used it for iPlayer because UK tunnel. The Alpha's meant to be a good phone with a nice feel in the hand though.

Not 100% but when I put it into my nexus 7 it picked it up and wouldnt work so the same may happen with your mifi. I could be wrong

Putting it in the mifi counts as tethering, they would pick it up, probably quicker than if you just tethered from a handset.
