Huawei have gone all out in the past couple of years and the smartphones they're making are really great, couple that with the excellent value provided in the SIM free price and they really can be considered must buy devices.

The original Honor 6 is still and excellent and the Honor 6+ improves on it.

In fact my main phone right now is the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 which is super amazing.
Well that's settled it then... that'll be my upgrade, just in time. Thanks for the advice.

Hopefully Three will do a decent contract deal on it, otherwise at that price it's worth buying outright. I love the fact it's dual sim too. I can pop an EE sim in for those times I need the extra 4g coverage.

Just be aware that only one SIM card slot will support 4G.

The other will be 2G only.

It's the same with pretty much every dual SIM phone. Some phones do allow you to switch which SIM is on 4G such as Mate 7 but I don't know if Honor 6+ will have this feature.

Fair enough, I guess it's just a bonus to have the option to pop another sim in. In which case o2/voda can step forth with their wonderful 2g only coverage (at least in this part of the world...)

On a serious point though, I hope that all changes during the life of me owning this new phone. Let's say I take out a 2 year contract - by April 2017, we can surely expect EE/Voda/o2 to have all hit the 98% population mark for 4g, can't we?

High 90's for EE by end of this year is guaranteed
High 90's by end of 2016 for Vodafone, O2 and Three is highly possible.

The next two years will see the first stages of VoLTE, LTE-Advanced and other technologies launch as well as continued roll out of 4G and upgrade of sites.

Honor 6+ is due to launch 1st week of April but don't quote me.
And a very nice phone it is too; (Shameless plug of my own site) http://jmcomms.com/2015/03/05/hands-...g-to-three-uk/

I've been told I'll get mine early April, but I'm trying to see if I can get a review unit earlier than that.

Given it's dual SIM (and Cat 6 LTE), it may well find itself with a Three SIM in one slot and my EE MBB SIM in the other! How cool it is that Three don't lock their devices too!

I thought Honor said it was dual LTE SIM at their event earlier this week (I'll have to check that). Perhaps bad wording on their part. I rather hoped that it would otherwise be 4G and 3G, not 2G only. That then screws up my plan, as obviously Three wouldn't work on 2G.

Even if it was then only one SIM card would still be 2G only. You'd just be able to switch which SIM has 4G without swapping the SIM cards but using the built in Android menu.

There is no such thing as 4G dual sim phone where both SIM cards support 4G at the same time. One will ALWAYS be 2G.

Tethering with the AYCE payg plan works fine on my L830 and my now stock LG G2. I have never had any problems doing it. I don't tether much mind.

Yeah, but if I switched the EE SIM to enjoy 4G data, my Three SIM would stop working for voice calls.

3G fallback wouldn't be such an issue.

When they say 2G I think they are just referring to voice and text. I have a dual sim phone and can still receive voice and text on my 3 sim when mobile data is switched off.

Is your SIM Card in the 3G slot?

It's a Moto G 2014. EE sim is in Slot 1 and Three sim in Slot 2.As far as I am aware, both are 3G capable but only one sim can be used for data at once.

No that's incorrect. Only one SIM will use 3G at a time, the other will always be on a 2G network.

Yes.... but you're still connected to a 3G network.

3G and Mobile data are different things.

Is three still moving people off the old one plan now to these new even higher tariffs?

2 price increases in nearly as many months?

By the time I'm forced to move, the nearest tariff is going to be £35 a month!

Same here. I'm hoping they go very slowly (which they seem to be) on moving people onto the new tariffs.

Does your plan include only 4GB tethering?

He's talking about the one plan. So he has unlimited tethering currently.

Too true, just remember that you're only hearing about Chinese maker Huawei putting 'extras' in because the USA and UK wants you to, what they aren't telling you is the rest!

Something stupid like 80% of the Openreach and Virgin media core networks use Huawei parts.
